Does anyone know if the H77 sold in the US has the same updated firmware as the European models, i.e. will it display PAL sources correctly?

Have the same issues arisen on the H79 to anyone's knowledge?

    Cheers
    Rob

I believe the US H77 has the same firmware as I've seen it mentioned over on avsforum.

So far though, the H79 doesn't seem to have the issues that some H77s had, like the panning problem for example.

Thanks Gary - I'll have a look at the AVSforum again.

You would have hoped that they would learn from previous errors but who knows.

Do they come with a universal PSU?

    Cheers

I think they do. Projector Central show the voltage as 90V - 264V

Going to try and import an H79? If you do, I'd be interested in how it goes etc. Keep us updated!

    Gary.

Someone did say that the H79 wouldn't be coming over here due to getting it optimised for PAL, but I think it's going to be available elsewhere in Europe, so I'm sure that's the real reason.

If you're using HTPC, it might not be an issue anyway. It might be worth asking the H79 owners if they can check it for PAL compatability.

    Gary.

    Hi Gary

I posted that the Optoma guy on the stand at Bristol said they were not going to import it - partly due to the cost of PAL conversion.

Then I had a think about it and given that it is substantially the same unit and that they had already fixed the H77, I thought that sounded a bit daft.

I am thinking about importing a H79 - though I may just wimp out and buy a UK spec H77.......

    Cheers
    Rob
