Of all times to do this - best summer of sport for years and I've not had this set up done... Ah well, here's hoping it all works out.

Nothing spectacular in terms of innovation - but I thought Groove's idea hardly needed anything added to it. If you read this Groove, thanks for the inspiration (and design) for this.

Still a work in progress, but getting there.

Next stage, after what you can see on these pictures, is to put a primer on the timber, give the wall another couple of coats & also paint the timber frame.

Then it'll be the brackets being added for the centre speaker, the TV and the shelf below the TV / above the speaker.

Should you be wondering - the letter box looking cable tidy will have a shelf covering most of it so you can just see the brushes in the centre of the shelf. It's a floating shelf which can be slid in and out for easier access - and the shelf is for a webcam / PS3 / Wii receivers etc.

I've just bought the 55" Panasonic plasma (the one that got the Reference score on here) and I've, so far, got a B&W CM Centre, and 2 white MT's for my surround. Once the wall is done, and the floor is down I will be going to get a pair of CM9's :)

The speaker cable for the CM9 will be hidden in a piece of white trunking which runs along the underside of the wall, which you can't see.

I'll continue to post pics as I go.

I'm liking the look of this a lot, this is almost identical to what I am about to embark on with my l/room, shall be following this.

How big is the room? and what is the width of your floating wall?

Cheers
Bryn. :smashin:

Thanks Bryn - was starting to think nobody liked my effort

The room itself is 5x4m. The floating wall, overall, is about 3 meters wide and about 40cm off the floor and ceiling. I'm guessing at these just now - I will post the actual measurements tomorrow.

If you want any info off me feel free to let me know.

Hi, how is the project going ?any updates?

This one looks a bit different than the others..interested to see the updates. I keep seeing about skimming and plastering... Me and my dad have built many walls and theyve never came out very good..we know nothing of skimming and plastering..we always just tape and bed the sheet rock then texture and paint..guess we never did it properly..time to google.

What's the intended look on your wall? Most the others I have seen used MDF and it overhang on the edges..you did sheetrock and it is flush with your 2x4's so am curious what the look is going to be compared to Grooves style?

Hey Micky, I know this thread is quite old now but would love to see some pictures of the finished project.

Hi Bryn,

Sorry I haven't looked at the site in a long time and noticed you were asking about how things were going. Apologies for the delay, and thanks for asking. I've posted some images of how things turned out.

Cheers :)
