Will phone IAG this morning.
Will keep you up to date!
Every time I read about another dead DVD32R I get very strange feeling in my chest ... How much longer is mine going to function ...
One should never buy expensive toys. I bought brand new SUV last year and It already costed me a grand for repairs...
One lives and learns or simmilar ....
They don't just die, they disappear with no trace as well
Obviously you're still waiting for yours then.
How long has it been the second time?
That quite frankly, taken at face value (and I know Nic isn't one to grizzle aimlessly), that can only be described as ridiculously poor service. I'd love to know what excuses they are giving Nic......
You and me both mate....
While we are waiting might as well ask what are you using to spin your discs? I am thinking of maybe buying a Japs or Korean universal DVDP. Always wanted to hear what is all the fuss with SACDs all about?
How many of you have compare the 2 versions of DVD32 side by side? Do the different transports really make that much different. As for as I remember all the electronics, power supplies etc are identical right?
....and then you get married and you cannot buy those expensive toys anymore, but money still dissapears !
Forunately (or unfortunately depending how you view it) I own another 32r which I will be using.
I had a Sony ES SACD in the past.As with CD some albums were good some were dire.I think the recording engineers play a large part.
Apparently the two different mechanisms measured exactly the same in the DVD32R, the advantage of the later mech was that it played just about every kind of recordable disk (and still does). Personally and I don;t know why I used to think that the original mech was superior with CD materal but it was so long ago now and the quality of either machine for CD replay is so much better than just about anything else, I'm not loosing any sleep on the subject....
I sold both of my DVD32R just to be on the safe side...
That I believe just as there are different quality of DVD transfers that are clear to even my eyes. Are you suggesting even the better examples of present SACDs are only just comparable to CD/DVD audio tracts playback we get from DVD32R?
What about the 32FL? Just sent my own 32R yesterday to be checked. If it proves too difficult or costly to 'upgrade' maybe one should get the last remaining front loader while they are around? I don't have another DVDP but still have an old Linn transport however dusting it down and listening to CDs proves quite unbearable. It could be all in my mind.
Personally I didn't hear any sacd that sounded better than a good Redbook on my 32r.
Can anyone comment on the reason these ram/rom chips keep failing?
Is it the chips themselves or something else causing them to fail (power up perhaps?!)
I'm afraid I don't have enough fingers and toes
On the plus side, it has been fun testing out the competition. There are some great players out there from £99 to £6500, some are not mentioned on these forums either.
Come on, Nic, stop teasing.
Tell us what has taken your fancy.
Geee Darko, you too...
When I got married (next year 15 years aniversary) her brother has spoken me his condolences . . .
The best point was that next second my sister did the same to my wife
However we still function well ...
I must be having extraordinary good day today to write this ..... --->
My SDI modded Philips 963 betters all video I have seen. Audio not currently in Tag class but plenty of potential to give it a serious hike, just need the warm up the soldering iron. £99 currently!!
Naims latest player is pretty damn good as well, they added DVD A No one speaks of it yet but they should be. Great CD If you need it, flexible, upgradable, and will be adding a scaler. Now where have I heard all this before?
Getiing a 4 channel 600Mhz scope with video capability soon so will be able to really pull apart analgue component and SDI video Just wonder what the reaction will be in the shops when I turn up for demos
'Just wonder what the reaction will be in the shops when I turn up for demos.'
One of absolute terror I should think Nic!
