I am about to shell out on my first AV receiver and have absolutely no knowledge of the stuff. I am planning on plugging some old hi-fi speakers into it ( temporarily ). Will these work for the rear speakers and centre speaker ( I have 6 old speakers )????

They will work but be causious of using an old speaker for the centre speaker as it will probebly not be magnetically sheilded and thus cause staining on your tv set.

Thanks for the advice. I had better take care. Centre speaker will be the first of the next line of purchases.

I actually ended up buying a Yamaha DSP-A5 amp and Accoustic Energy 120 (audio) speakers, sticking my old KEF Coda7 (again audio speakers) as rears. Consequently I bought an AE centre speaker & I think the setup work brilliantly; for music & film.

    Go for it!
