Netflix finally "delivers"! (via Paramount ;))...?

I'll check this out as it is a Garland movie, but to be honest, if it wasn't picked up by Netflix it might have shown in a few theaters and shown up on iTunes so I don't see how Netflix bringing it straight to video is any success... It just guarantees not being able to watch it in theatre. It doesn't add anything...

Still it's good to know that the movie wasn't made with the small Netflix screen in mind

I know it's a Netflix film but what are the odds this will get a physical disc release?

No 4k HDR for the UK then? Others have got HDR in other countries..that's a shame

Thanks Cas, although I do feel that Netflix already has some "gems" :). "Godless" to name but one.

Still, very keen to watch this.

If you don't mind importing, it'll likely get a US blu and/or 4k as it's doing the cinematic rounds over there.

Yes, while I agree with your facts, it's still bad news. I don't see what's there to celebrate.

I saw Ex Machina in theatre, 2nd week after it's release. It's available on Netflix & iTunes as well as disc... That this is not the case with Annihilation is no cause for celebration.

It's yet another trend of adult oriented films not making it to theatre and ending in some streaming ghetto instead...

I watched it this morning and it wasn't coming up showing Dolby Vision at the time although it is now.
To be honest I wasn't very impressed by it.

I'm waiting for this to be released in the US on disc and importing it, not interested in streaming. Disc's are King, best picture and sound quality without any doubt.

Just finished watching it. I'm glad the film didn't go out of it's way to explain everything. Some people will hate it for that but I find it's best if you leave this sort of horrific other worldly stuff up to the audience's imagination

Otherwise, it's pretty good. A lot of people will really adore this film, and while I'm not of them, I do appreciate it's strengths and general execution.

Although, I did find it odd that they would only send five lightly armed women - with only one of them having actual military experience - without any other kind of support into the giant petrol spill. Considering what their objective was, and what had happened previously to the other teams, they should have gone in with an entire army at that point. I don't care about them being women or anything, but it felt like the situation was way too serious for them to be alone.

Strange way of going about it especially if one has a Netflix subscription. Watch it on Netflix if you can and if you like the film then hunt out the superior disc version to keep . Seems a bit of a backward way of doing it to me .

It's not on the US Netflix. Netflix only got the international distribution.

And it's not 4K either (at least not for me) but it does support Dolby Vision on my LG C7.

Mine showed as 1080p, then I rebooted my Fire TV then it didn't show at all, then I rebooted it again and now I'm watching in 4k.

It would appear they've got issues.

Found it and watched it. Great visuals, weird sound mix that felt compressed in a lot of places (attacks, gun fire) yet very dynamic in others. Not sure if deliberate or 'Netflix'!

As far as the film itself, it was decent but I could see it being a bit marmite. 7/10 from me :)

I enjoyed the film, felt like a throwback to sci-fi from the 70s, can see why the suits hated it though.

When I checked on my B6 before 3pm, it was only showing as 1080p with no HDR or DV. Checked again an hour ago, and it is now in 4K with DV?
