I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were in regard to animated menus on DVDs. I have to admit that at first they were all very nice and impressive but now I'd really rather not have them.

The menus on the X-Men disc for example takes forever to do their stuff and when you just want to put the film on this gets really annoying. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for nice looking, scored menus but some go a little too far.

    Opinions anyone?

I would rather have a great animated and scored menu like in the abyss than have a static boring one like my new Predator DTS.
    cheers

I think you can have a menu that operates and looks nice with a bit of thought.

The X-men menu is particularly annoying though.

The Abyss is quite nice but I hate it when they use confusing colours for highlighting options (check out the audio option green or white you decide which one looks selected!)
