Hi

I've sold items via Amazon over the last 5 years or so, and carefully and dilligently maintained 100% feedback.

I describe my items very accurately, I post promptly and maintain good comms with buyers (I mainly sell the odd phone, camera, book etc.).

I tried to list an item for sale last week and saw that my seller account had been suspended permanently

I contacted Amazon and received the following reply;

Hello,

We removed your selling privileges because your account failed our review process. Due to the proprietary nature of our business, we do not provide detailed information about this process. (so they won't tell me why they suspended the account)

After a review of your account by an account specialist, we have decided not to reinstate your selling privileges. (so they won't reverse the decision)

We regret we are unable to provide further information on this situation. Further correspondence regarding the closure of your selling account may not be answered. (so they won't answer any emails or give any further info)

The closure of this account is a permanent action. Any subsequent accounts that are opened will be closed as well. (so basically a life ban with no explanation)

Regards,

Seller Performance Team

The only 'blemish' I've had in dozens of transactions was quite recently. I sold a phone case for £13 ish. 6 weeks later I heard from the buyer that they hadn't received it in the post. I immediately refunded without question, as by that time I had disposed of the proof of postage

In the same period I had sold a camera for £350 and received instant positive feedback.

Would Amazon really cancel a healthy and honestly run account over something like that?

And as for their position of no contact/explanation/reversal... I'm astounded to be honest.

When I think how many times I have gone above and beyond for the benefit of the seller (as I have done on eBay and here) it makes me even more frustrated.

I've emailed them politely every 2 days since it happened and surprise, surprise - no reply.

Have any of you encountered a similar problem, or can anyone offer any advice please?

Thanks

what kind of stuff do you sell..? - just I assumed the market place was for shops and the like rather than people selling 2nd hand items (that would normally go on the likes of gumtree and ebay etc?) - tho, I could be wrong on that...

You may not have done anything wrong at all, they're just moving to business sellers rather than private individuals selling their second hand stuff. I can't seem to find anything about it anywhere but I've heard of this happening before.

Could be fall out from the 1p fiasco that I heard about the other week & they're reassessing what sort of sellers they've got?
Do you have a phone number (for marketplace side)? You'll probably get more joy from that over an email.

Certainly I look at Amazon as a place for professional sellers not private ones so Hippo may well be right.

Are you a business seller?

You may have better luck ringing them and hoping you get someone sensible

There is countless private sellers on the Amazon marketplace, and I don't think they will be looking to change that anytime soon.

I'm a full time seller on amazon myself and know the "account reviews" and suspensions can be inconsistent and illogical.

I think it's generally a result of metrics related to value of items, frequency of sales and of course customers feedback.

I've heard several similar cases to yours, and happily most are resolved sensibly, just reply to any emails and if need be get on the phone to seller support. I'll often try a few times until I get through to the Dublin office as they seem to resolve things quickest in my experience.

Had you suddenly started selling more than usual?

Post on the Amazon discussion boards aswell, they are viewed by customer care.

I know it's immensely frustrating but assuming there is no more to it than your post suggests, I would be fairly confident you will be reinstated soon enough. I think they get a bit trigger happy around Christmas aswell.

I like to think of know my stuff with Amazon as I've been at it nearly 10 years so don't hesitate if you need any more help.

Any chance you've had emails that went into spam folder and you didn't answer?
