    Hi,

Tonight saw "Angel" move away from being heavily censored and abruptly scheduled on Channel Four, to Five!

Season 3, Episode 1 aired at 8pm tonight, albeit with very minor edits for language, weapons-usage, and violent content. Admittedly, the edits were noticeable, especially in the hand-to-hand combat scenes, which is a shame, but all-in-all, Five did a reasonable job.

As for the lack of Widescreen, this was Twentieth Century Fox#s fault. It would appear, that all Widescreen prints of "Angel" are withheld from TV transmission, and are kept solely to use on VHS and DVD releases! As such, hardcore fans who want to see the show in the way it was originally intended, will have to buy the retail versions, or else, wait until the widescreen-print embargo ceases in a few years.

Five have also announced that they have the rights to Season 2 of "The Shield", and this will start airing within the next 6 weeks! (There has already been magazine ads for it!) This will air uncut and uncensored, but will probably be in 4:3.

For those who would like to see "Angel" uncut, please phone the Five Duty Office, and register your request on 08457-05-05-05.

    Thanks,

    Pooch

But isn't it widescreen 480p in america??

Just heard that season 2 r1 dvd in be 4:3 which makes JW look stupid after stating that Angel will be 16:9 as it is a 16:9 show were as buffy has always been 4:3.
I just thinks it down to whatever Five could get their hands on
Dawsons Creek which is also 16:9 was also released 4:3 a few months ago:(

I remember watching an episode at 6pm on channel 4. There was a big battle and it was over in seconds, and you didn't know what had just happened.

    Hi,

Garrett - Basically, like I said in my initial post, there appears to be an embargo on showing Widescreen versions of "Angel". Why this is, I don't know. As for why Five didn't show the widescreen versions, again, this was Fox's fault. Five requested widescreen masters, but were only sent 4;3 editions instead.

Urotsukidoji - Buffy was 4:3 until the beginning of Season 4, I believe. Then it went into 14:9 widescreen, or 1.77:1 ratio approx. "Angel" on the other hand, was always a widescreen show, right from Season 1. The reason the US may only be getting 4:3 prints, could be to do with TV syndication issues.
