I'm wondering if anybody can help me. About 3 or 4 months ago I was bought Angel series 2 as a gift. Unfortunetly the 5th disk has quite a large scratch on it and refuses to play on my Tosh 220, in fact the disk plays to a point then pixelates and freezes. I can jump to the next chapter but I seem to miss a good 5 minutes or so of the episode, and it seems to affect all the episodes on the disk.

The boxset was shrink wrapped when I received it, and all the other disks are perfect, and as you can probably guess I don't have a receipt. (as it was bought on the high Street) Has anybody ever contacted 20th century Fox about a similar query, and if so have an email address (cant find one on the website), or any other advice as to how I can replace this disk?

    thnx in advance

    Hi Mole,

If you write to 20th Century Fox in London, (hand-written letter, not a typed one or e-mail - implies friendliness and that this is really important to you), and ask them very nicely, they may well be willing to exchange your faulty disc for another one.

They WON'T exchange the whole set, just the faulty disc, but like I say, you;ll have to ask very nicely, as technically they aren't the people to whom you should really go to. Obviously, you're options though, are rather limited, seeing as you don't have a receipt.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi Pooch,

Thanx for the reply, the hand written idea sounds good, I was thinking of doing that as my next step anyway. The rest of the set are fine it's just that particular disk, so I only want that one replaced anyway. Here goes nothing!

    Where's my quill and paper........

You don't need a receipt as a rule, the law says "proof of purchase" so if you bought it with a card the statement will do. Hope that helps.

I just got my Reg 1 box set of Angel season 1 and one of the episodes has a faulty chapter, I cba to go about replacing it though as I'm a lazy sod :suicide:

    daftmole,

I have sent you a pm with the answer to your problem!

    James45,

I don't think it is a widespread issue (it was a scratch) I have it and it is fine. ;)

So it wasn't me you were asking then :)

For anyone else that may be interested, the disc is visually flawless but chapter 5 of the episode "Bachelor Party" just will not play. It's not a crucial part of the episode so I'll live. Can I also say that the LFE in this box set is the best I've ever heard in a TV series DVD.

    Thnx for all the replies.

I don't believe that it's a widespred problem as a work collegue has the same boxset (Angel Season 2 R2) which he bought around the same time and that has no problems. I think it is just an unfortunate scratch, although very large scratch. It hasn't played in any of the 5 or 6 dvd players that I've tried!

It's well worth ordering anyway, the series is superb (as you already probably know!) and the widescreen picture is fantastic for a TV series! Looking forward to season 3 that's out next month!
