Are these box sets the same as the ones currently avaliable, as itdoes say promotional edition in the title, and I dont want the boxsets to clash with the first two seasons I already own (as well as the 7 seasons of buffy).

It doesnt say anything about them being different packaging but I would email/call Play.com just to make sure, personally I dont own any of the Boxsets at the moment but have pre-ordered the R4 releases from DVDCrave for less than £17 per Season.

The fact that the r4 have half season box sets kinda puts me off, and the uk r2 packaging is so much nicer than both the r1 and r4 packaging.

I prefer better packaging also but not when its double the price, would rather have two Seasons in standard dvd cases than just one Season with better packaging.

little wary of getting this as there is a upcoming buffy complete series box set for about £160ish, no doubt this will happen with angel too.. would work out cheaper too.

the Angel boxset isnt likely to come out anytime soon though. Im in no rush to get all of Angel, so im hoping that there will be an angel boxset with all 5 seasons to go with my buffy boxset when it arrives

hmm still a bit expensive for me, i wont spend more than £30 on a box set. Hopefully www.dvd.co.uk will undercut play by £10 in a few days, they have on every previous buffy or angel sale, so fingers crossed!

i still think £37.99 is too expensive for those boxsets, if they were £25-30 maybe, but anything over that is too much considering you can get all 7 seasons for £139.99

After all this time, they should at least drop it alittle more....

im not going to make the same mistake with angel so im also gonna wait for the complete boxset when it arrives, im in no rush :)

i have buffy s1 (i hate the s1 boxset, it doesnt match the rest of the "books" at all!)/s2/s7 so buying 3/4/5/6 would come out to about £152 (£38 x 4), but the complete series on amazon is £140 --guess which i went for :)

so has anyone found out whether the promotional box sets are same as the previous ones? as I have buffy 1-4 and Angel 1-2 so it would be good to complete the set.

I have e mailed play and should have a response soon. Considering its only seasons 3,4 and eventually 5 that I'll be wanting, the boxset would not really interest me (unless it worked out cheaper for the same book style boxsets). Besides that £35ish for a season is very good value considering it contains 22 episodes of a very good program and usually a few good commentaries. Of course If it were cheaper I wouldn't complain, but considering two years ago I spent £240 getting three seasons of Due South on VHS, this doesn't seem like a bad deal at all.

I think £30 - £40 is fairly reasonable for a TV DVD box-set. I think that the regular price of £60+ is way too much for something which has been shown on TV first. HMV and all of the other high street stores are taking the p * * * Selling the likes of Buffy for £80.

Personally, I hate the Buffy and Angel region 2 packaging! Don't get me wrong I think it looks great on the shelf but it's just poorly designed. I always worry about scratching my discs trying to get them out of those book cases. I have to say that I prefer season ones packaging, or if I was given a choice would have preferred just plain amaray cases in a cardboard case.

They might be like the re-released X-Files Boxsets that DVDCrave have been selling which are the same discs but in amaray dvd cases in a cardboard box. If they are then you are defently better off getting them from DVDCrave as they are half the price plus the Buffy Seasons that are cut on R2 are Uncut on R4.

i ended up going with ordering these s3/4/5/6 "promo" boxsets thanks to a kind soul who gave me a 10% discount voucher, costed a little less than amazon's price but this way i'm hoping they come as books to complete my collection.

i cant see it not being the same R2 packaging, its not like play have called whoever distributes these in the UK and told them: "we want a cutdown, promotional version of these box sets in amaray cases!"

okay im clutching at straws here but i hope that its the books. has anyone ever seen a region 2 uk season2+ non book set? nope, thought (hope!) not..

    :)

edit: also heres another reason why im thinking they are standard, play arent going to specially order a different version of boxsets, because think about it, what happens when (if?) the promo ends?

they sell these "promo editions" off for dirt cheap whilst the normal ones are full priced? nope, thats not good business sense.

they've done this promo before, hasnt anyone brought a boxset when the previous promo was on?!

*me prays that they're going to be books!*

Hmm, might be tempted too. Already own all 7 series on DVD but they currently fetch between £20 and £30 on Ebay, so could hopefully recoup the £199

Is the Buffy Boxset mentioned on the BBC site the same as the one Amazon.co.uk have available for pre-order at £139.99?

afaik its only only complete boxset that been announced so i reckon its the same, which is what is swaying me to the dark side.

i might very well cancel the s3/4/5/6 boxsets ive ordered and go for the spesh boxset.. hmm what to do, what to do!

for me at least it works out to the same price buying 4 boxsets or the complete. with the special edition i finally get to get rid of the season1 box set which doesnt match with the others at all.

but if i got with the complete, i lose out on the awesome (imo) books..

Yea thats what i would have preffered, something alittle interesting rather than just a box....

Still, its well worth the price if you dont already have the boxsets (or have them all) ive had this preordered as i only have 2 boxsets (season 4 and 6) and this works out cheaper for me to buy rather than buying the rest seperatly....
