Can someone tell me what this means? If there's a choice should I buy a DVD which is in anamorphic widescreen or one which is not?

In short Anamorphic if a W/S film compressed (from the sides) in to a 4/3 format so when opened up sideways will have more information for the picture this better than a picture that is compressed vertically and horizontally which has to be magnified to get the correct screen ratio, thus loosing information and resolution.
