Analyst: UK pay-TV in continued decline

". The uptake of pay-TV among UK TV households is set to decline by 7.5 per cent by 2023 according to analysts at consultancy firm Broadcast Intelligence. As the SVoD market continues to grow, UK pay-TV penetration will fall to numbers not seen since before 2011. Broadcast Intelligence’s report – Pay-TV’s future in an on-demand world – UK Market Edition, published today, analyses the recent performance of Sky, Virgin Media, BT TV, TalkTalk TV, and Now TV. It predicts the UK pay-TV penetration of these players will drop to 54 per cent.

Currently, pay-TV platforms make up for roughly 50 per cent of the total revenues generated by the UK TV industry. "
