going into half time, southampton and man utd are drawing 1-1, norwich are losing 2-0, palace are losing 1-0 and west brom are drawing 0-0 with portsmouth. the only way southampton will get relegated are if they lose, palace win, norwich draw or win, or west brom win.. so what's the betting pompey will score an own goal in the 89th minute if things stay the way they are? Can't imagine there would be much more pleasure for a pompey player than scoring the (own) goal that relegates the saints..

I can't wait for it all to be over to get a break from all the football threads that are dominating general chat. :)

wow what a day. i can't believe that Norwich, who were the only team with their fate completely in their own hands, managed to screw things up oh so badly. they deserve their relegation more than any team ever before!

over the course of the matches, all four teams were safe for periods of time, but in the end WBA are the ones who scraped through to be safe for another 38 games.

There were WBA fans on the pitch at full time celebrating the win, and more amusingly, the pompey fans joined them to celebrate the relegation of southamption!

Rupert Lowe, take a bow. Relegation couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke.

Oh, and before you ask, the Pfc bit of my gamertag does not have anything to do with Portsmouth FC. For the record, I'm a Spurs fan.

Couldn't agree more - can't we have a football forum to keep all this stuff separate?
