I currently have the GX7 and find it's picture excellent.

However I'm getting a Panny 36PD30 TV and would like to use progressive if I can.

    So the question is this.

Are the Tosh and Panasonic recorders capable of being better than the GX7 for vision using component.

And just in case, might they also be comparable on RGB?

Lastly, if I use component for each, will they allow RGB in from Sky and component out to the TV when the power is off??

The pana has RGB passthrough. I find the PQ superb on rgb and component, interlaced and progressive - but dont know about GX7.

CLH - the Toshiba has excellent DVD playback - especially via PS component. Without a doubt it offers the best DVD playback of current generation machines. Whether a Panasonic DVDR with PS output can match your GX7 without it is questionable. For issues such as this though I would always suggest trialling the machines - difficult I know with Toshiba models - but the Panasonic shops will give you a display if you ask nicely :) PQ is always subjective...

Did the Sony GX7 Component output/RGB input work BTW?

The best answer really given that the DV equipped Tosh is substantially cheaper than the E95/100.

The Tosh does sound good, it's not aesthetically as appealing of course as the Sony but then I'm not that bothered!

Does the Tosh allow RGB in and component out when in standby??

Nothing is going to give you RGB in and component out in standby - only passthrough.

So if I hook up a Scart RGB out then the following should happen:

    1. When playing DVD component will be used and sound will go through the scart.

    2. When in standy RGB from Sky+ will enter and RGB will passthrough and exit to the TV.

    Is that about right?

    1. Correct.
    2. reading another post "When I switch the unit off it doesnt do RGB pass thru. But in its off state I can still use the Sat Moni (satelite monitor) button and then it switches through."
