I had heard that it may only be compatible with 2000 onwards?

Oh well I don't know much about this model. Bit pricey though £175 from dabs :-(

Why do want this one ? Many are so much cheaper now

    What do you recommend?

I was attracted to it because its a Sony, its new and the write speeds look to be beyond anything else.

I got the tri-format LG 4040B a few weeks ago. More than happy with it. Now only £97 from ebuyer http://***********/rpo1

Just had a look at it on the Sony web site and is listed as follows:

Platform support: Windows® 2000, Windows® XP Home edition, Windows® XP professional

Windows ME is not listed as being supported! Might be worth giving their tech support a call to find out for sure.

    Mark.
