    Hi,

Recently purchased AMX control for home automation. I am up to speed on the netlinx programming language but have had a fairly rough ride getting the controller to work correctly with the AV19R rs232 module. All is ok now but am not convinced i've done the best job, definitely in the status request handling.

Does anybody have any AMX code I can take a peak at to see if i'm doing things correctly?

    Cheers!!

    Hi Phil.

I have a copy of the code AMX used to get a TAG demo working at CEDIA a couple of years back, apparently it was not straightforward..... I'll see if I can find it but it might have to wait until Tuesday as we are on strike Monday........

    Hi Phil,

What specific problems are you having with the status messages being returned from the AV192R?

    Regards,

    Steve

    firstly thanks Graham!

major problems are i have had to build a buffer to prevent sending commands too quickly after each other (turns out the AV192R will lose a few bytes of data if sent too quickly after a LF)

With status updates i wanted to do a single status instead of getting each individually but kept crashing the contoller when parsing the data, also doesn't help that Tag have used heading SUB: for the sub trim but if the mode is DIRECT it heads it LFE: which is a real pain!!

Still crashes when using this code so i am running a simplified version that just gets volume and processing mode until i get the time to debug.

also using the level control for volume setting but can get the processor into all sorts of problems (if i slide the level control up on the panel repeatedly it doesn't take too long for it too start missing commands)

as I say, generally ok but a few niggles that are making the investment (as a replacement to an ipronto) not seem worth it...

    regards

    Phil

    Hi Phil,

Out of interest which AMX products have you purchased?

Can you please let me know what firmware versions you are running on your Netlinx controller?

Is your dealer giving you any support with this or are you on your own?

    Regards,

    Steve

    Steve,

I have the NI3000 & MVP8400. All running the latest firmware. I didn't want to pay the hefty price tag to have the software written for me and my dealer is not an approved supplier so I am pretty much on my own - as I said I've doen a reasonable job so far but would be useful to get some code for reference...

    Hi,

Just embarking on this route too - if anyone could send me any AMX example code I would be most grateful. I have both AMX and Crestron here and am writing it for myself....

    :lease:

I have seen in various places mention of the Tagtronic bus protocol being implemented on AMX - does anyone know anything about this (cf the RS232 protocol) ?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Kevin
