amplifier trouble

    hi, im currently having a few problems with my amp -
    its a technics su-v90d

    it all powers up fine but when playing from either analog or digital you have to have the volume set to maximum and the sound is all crackly and very quiet! If anyone has any ideas as to what the problem is let me know and how it can be fixed if poss ?

    Check the speaker wires in the rear and make sure they haven't touched each other. Unplug the "A" speakers and plug them into the "B" speakers or other surround speakers. If they work, you may have blown your amp.

    ive checked it and its the same out of both the a + b outputs
    so if ive blown it do you reckon it would cost much to fix ?

    If It's old, then i'm sorry to say, it wont be worth the money to get it fixed.
    But just buy a new amp, as a new amp will be the same money as the repair bill. Last time I asked about repair, I was quoted £60 an hour, plus parts.
    Thats If they can still get the parts, that is.

    sounds about right :(

    can you recommend any amps? (surround or stereo) my max budget is £180

    Well for that sort of money, you must decide if you want your Amp for Music or DVD's, as surround amps don't play music very well.
    If you want a good stereo amp, then I can recommend the NAD c352.
