    Hi

I'm looking for an intergtrated remote control 2 channel amp with a genuinely "mellow" sound. This will be used primarily to listen to the audio outs of a Freeview receiver and a DVD player. Considering anything up to £350. I really don't want an AV amp as I've never heard a budget one that didn't make me go "eek!". :)

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

    Cheers

Rotel and Nad come to mind at that price. Or for £130 you could try this:

loads of wattage for your money

or if you have very efficient speakers try this:

Thanks. The Trends Audio and Behringer amps look really interesting. If I still had the spirit of hifi adventure I'd be queuing with my cheque book. :)

Unfortunately, I'm not a Nad fan, so I think I'll have to pay a visit to my local hifi shop and ask for some brief demos of the most likely candidates. (I don't like hifi shops you see...)

    Thanks again.

The Rotel RA-06 is a simple solution that wouldn't eat up all your budget.

The RA-06 seems to be around the £499 mark. Are you thinking of the RA-05?

Rotel never struck me as making kit that was "mellow".
I'd suggest you look s/h for gear from Musical Fidelity, and if you can stretch to it, some Meridian kit. You might not end up with a remote, but chances are that it'll sound a whole lot better.

I agree, I used to have a Rotel integrated amp and it did have a quite forward sound.

s70rmp - was that a specific instore offer? The RS site lists the v2 640A at £299.
Edit : Found the v1 in the clearance section...
