Amplifier recommendation

Hi:

I've got an old pair of B&W DM602 speakers and need a compatible amp/receiver. I'm willing to go a bit high end--around £1000--but not being an audiophile I'm not sure whether it is worth it with my speakers (which I don't necessarily want to upgrade.)

What is your favourite?

Do you want a stereo or surround reciever?
What will your other speakers be if going surround (really want a matching centre)?
What sources do you have? bluray etc.?
Higher end Denon, Yamaha (Adventage range) or Marantz amps would suit your speakers well if looking at AV receivers.
