Hello, I'm hoping someone can resolve a problem I'm having.

I own an older Denon AVR-2800 amp. It has not been used for a number of years because of a lack of space for a home theater. I now have the space and plan on setting my system back up, so I went to test the amp. I connected my DVD player though the coaxial cable jack on the back of the amplifier, and used the DTS track from the original Jurassic Park. The amp has an area on the front where it says signal, underneath that there are three sections, Lock, Digital, and DTS. If the amplifier receives a digital signal the Lock section will shine a little red light, as it did. One of the other two sections should be lit as well depending on the type of audio track selected. So I should have had the Lock and DTS lights activated for I had selected the DTS track on the DVD. Also the front panel should have displayed DTS, instead it only showed Dolby Pro Logic. I did set the amp to Auto, in order to automatically detect the signal, and I made sure the digital DVD input was selected to coaxial in the setup menu.

If someone could help it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Make sure your DVD player is set to bistream / raw.

Thanks for the response.
I figured out what the initial problem was. The DVD player I was
using was a 5Y old Sony, model DVD-NS50P. So I thought to myself,
why not connect my original 10YR old Panasonic DVD player.
Finally, the amp engaged both the Lock and Digital lights. I tried
the DTS track of the DVD I was using, and both the Lock and DTS
lights lit, and the front panel displayed DTS, as opposed to Dolby
Pro Logic. So now I need to know why the amp is detecting the
proper signals with the old DVD player and not the newer one.
Also, does this mean I have to purchase a new amp, or are there
settings on the DVD player that can be adjusted to get things
working properly. I paid over $800 dollars for my amplifier, it's
a solidly constructed and great sounding piece of equipment, which
I do not wish to part with. Again, help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
