Amplifier gift for father

Hi everyone
Hope you all safe and healthy
My dad has always been a passionate music listener and has old Zingali bookshelf speakers which were previously connected to an Onkyo CD player and amplifier. Both the CD player and the amplifier are now broken, and now I would like to buy him a replacement. How would I know which amplifier I should get?

Not really. I don't know how good the speakers are, Id say something reasonable in line with the quality of the speakers. Around 300$ for both amp and cd player?
