Amplifier Choice for non Tech savvy person? (

Even though i still ive at home the old man wants a new TV and we are virtually decided on that (Panasonic 42" Z85) now he already has a Yamaha amp which is getting old now and looking for a new amp so he can have surround sound still.

He doesnt want to change the speakers not sure what they are (5.1 Eltax from about 5 years ago still work fine). Now what is going to be connected in is PS3, Xbox360, SkyHD and DVD player all by HDMI but the 360 by component.

The only thing is the old man does not like things to be complicated to use, so i'll set it up and show him the basics. All he wants to do is turn it on and watch.

Not looking at breaking the bank £300-£400 ish. What can people recommend in that price range??

Don't forget to allow for an optical connection from SkyHD and the 360.

Sky won't send 5.1 sound over HDMI unfortunately.

LINK Do a search as lots of people have been looking for a new amp to complement their PS3. To simplify the system, I would look at a universal remote e.g. Harmony 525. Check the remotes forum though as some TV's can be fiddly to setup with their strange AV input selections.

Don't rule out Cambridge Audio though as they're cracking amps and although they lack a lot of bells and whistles, more than make up for it in the sound quality stakes.
