It plays but not in surround sound ... Only the front soakers
Is it possible to play it in surround?
Would I need to convert the file?
    If so how?

AAC is a stereo 2 channel audio format so you cannot get discrete multichannel surround sound from the file. Try using Pro Logic II or IIx in order to create pseudo surround or extract matrixed channels that may be present within the 2 discrete channels of the AAC audio.
