    Hi everyone,

    Ive got the following equipment:

    Philips Plasma
    Panasonic DVD
    Cyrus 3 + PSX-R
    Mission 753 fronts
    Mission 75C Centre

Now Im looking for a decent Amp to use. Now the DVD player is DTS and has seprate outputs at the back for fronts/centre/rears. Do I really need a DTS AMP?

If not then would then is the Yamaha E800 any good?

Will my Cyrus/Yamaha be as good as a Denon AVR3805 amp?

I would suspect the denon would crush the E800 for movies but get crushed by the cyrus in stereo. For that sort of mony I would suggest thet you look at the arcam avr250 or maybe the 300 as stereo performance seems like a priority to you. The E800 is didsontinueed if i remember rightly and dont cyrus themselves make a add on multi channel decoding unit??

    Hi thanks for the reply,

Im still interested to know if the AMP needs to be DTS if the CD player is.

DVD players have seperate Phono Outs for Fronts,Centre,Rears and Subwoofer. They also have a 2ch Output.

So if you link all this up to a surround AMP, shouldnt this give DTS?

I dont honestly know but my thoughts would be no. You would need a DTS decoder in the amp . I think if your dvd player didnt do DTS and your amp did you still wouldnt get anything. I could well be wrong though.

Your dvd player might use the seperate outs for dvd-audio or SACD. Which model do you have?
