Can some one please advise me What is the best way of connecting the above equipment to get the best picture and sound.
Occasianly I want to record from Digi Box or may be fron DVD as I have got MR DVD Player(VCR friendly).
What cables do i need(speaker & digital)and where I can buy them cheaply. At present I have got 3 Scart cables.
    Probaly asked too many questions!
    Will appreciate any help.

    Kind Regards

    Hi Asad

    Try this for starters:

    Audio cables
Dvd to amp via digital cable optical or coaxial.
Digibox to amp via phono leads (or optical if the digibox has one)
VCR to amp via phono leads.

    Video cables
If your TV has an SVHS socket connect the dvd to it this will leave the scart sockets free for the following:

Digibox to tv via scart to scart 1 (RGB)
    Digibox to VHS
VHS to tv via scart to scart 2.

Alternatively you may need a scart switching box if your tv doesnt have an SVHS socket.

For speaker cables etc try www.hificables.co.uk

    Hope this helps
    cheers

    Hi Asad,

I notice you have the Marantz 5200, i'm thinking of buying this real soon and just wanted to know how you rate it. Does it have a input for multi-channel audio (external decoder)???

    Cheers

    Hi,
I forgot to mentionthat I will have this kit as I will be getting SR5200 soon,it is on order.
Thanks to Jase for the help, can you recommend a cable(cheap) which will do the job for me.

Is it a good idea to buy an ordinary(QED) speaker wire for the rear speakers and quality cable for the Centre and Front speakers.

    Cheers

    Cheers

If you connect the dvd to the tv using the s-video connection, you will most likely loose auto-widescreen switching as, in the majority of cases, is handled by pin 8 on the scart.

The video does not need to be connected to the tv as the digibox passes the vcr signal via the digibox scart.

There are a load of connection posts that have been made in the last few days which fit your equipment, rather than repeat the same information, take a look at those threads.

    Asad

Personally, i use the Chord Company speaker cable ,interconnects & video cables.

On the website i gave you in a previous post they have a good selection to suit all budgets.

Try giving them an email to see what they recommend.

You could use a better cable for the fronts & centre, its up to you really. Mine is the same all round, but thats just my personal preference.

    cheers

    Interconnects - Straight Wire Chorus
    Speakers - Cable Talk 3.1
