    Hi all,

Apart from input voltage, can anyone confirm whether the American versions of AV Receivers (i.e. Sony STR-DA3300ES, STR-DA4300ES, STR-DA5300ES and other Manufacturers models) differ in any way to the UK models.

I know that US TV is on NTSC compared to our PAL system, but would an American model AV Receiver work over here?

I'm asking as the USD-->GBP rate is particularly in our favour at the moment, and i've found a Sony STR-DA3300ES receiver in the U.S for $680 + shipping (plus import duties for the UK of course). This would probably total around £500 to the door.

Very tempting if the U.S version can be used here with no video performance issues, wouldn't you agree?

with most things i would say yes get it from usa but you have a few problems.

    1. voltage which can be gotten over but not worth the hassle or cost
    2. ntsc
    3. hdcp might one day have a feature like reigon codeing activated
4.warrenty and cost to send to US if it breaks
5.it will get trested badly in transit. and be be damaged even before you receive it.
