I thought the unrated version was supposed to be released on 5th September but www.play247.com says that my copy was dispatched today.

Is it common for films to be sent out so far ahead of their releases dates?

Of course, I'm not complaining... [IMG]

BD asked "Is it common for films to be sent out so far ahead of their releases dates?"

I don't think it's common. But it does happen. A well known UK-based supplier ( www.movietyme.com )tends to deliver pre-orders pretty early.

Please post your opinions on American Psycho as I've been tempted to buy it.

Erm...I think you might like to check out dvddebate.com as they're running a story on a batch of those discs getting out which may-or-may-not be completely kosher. According to the story it's "probably" the official Canadian release (which was uncut by the way, same as the UK release) but no one seems to be too sure at the moment. And, according to what I've read, the pic ain't too hot.
At the mo, everyone is being advised to return them to whoever supplied them.

But seeing as it's the same as the UK release, why not get the R2 version? Pic quality should be improved, it's uncut, and if you're shopping at Play247 it'll be cheaper than the R1 version too.
In the case of something like this (and I know it goes against what we always say around here) R2 really would be the better option wouldn't it??

My copy (from play247) is indeed the Canadian version. The Canadian version is exactly the same as the American 'Unrated' version. The picture seems fine to me...

Theres no mention about it being unrated on the box, but theres a screen at the start of the film stating that it has been altered from its original, theatrical release.

I'd never seen AP before, so I didnt know what to expect. I certainly wasn't expecting it to be as funny as it was!

    I'd definatly recommend it.

I would not worry about early releases,

I have been getting allmy region 1 films two weeks before America are selling them. It's all because shops have them in stock but they are not allowed to sell them until the official release date.

These R1 companies send them out as they get them.

My US American Psycho is on it's way and will be with me tomorrow. I'll check back and let you know if it's OK. (This company I order from do not distribute Canadian only US and charge a lot more.)

    Still, funny about pirate AP.

on my copy the sleeve looks different to the picture on their website no mention of unrated version. phoned customer services told me to send it back as their stock comes from canada. might as well cancel T2 while i'm at it as their not sure about the metal case either. [IMG]
