Patrick Bateman: 'I like to dissect women. Did you know I'm utterly insane?'

'Sri Laaaaanka'

This film is totally hilarious!!!!!

Go and watch it if you haven't already: :nono:

maybe you could clear this up for me...I read the book some time ago but weren't all the killings in his head? Apart from the tramp? I found the book a chore to read and couldn't be bothered to sit through the movie on that basis.

I really like this film as well, such a dark comedy, although i dont own it on dvd

I hated the film but was told that the book was miles better, i'm yet to read it yet though

So did I, pointless violence :lesson:

Ah, as long as I know where i stand then

This was one of those films that i bought on recommendation but, having watched it all the way through once i just couldn't 'get' it. Maybe if i had have read the book I may have done. But, IMO, you shouldn't have to read the book to get the film, the film should do the book justice.

Not if it's essential for the story, the opening scene in that pile of tripe was not needed.

I thought it was only marginally better than Bladerunner.........

.........Which in my opinion is the worst film i have ever watched. :thumbsdow

Adrenochrome.

"Do you like Huey Lewis and the News?"

Patrick Bateman, awesome. This has to be one of the most darkly funny films i have ever seen. I've not read the book myself but people tell me that its not supposed to be as funny as it is in the film, but who cares, still a top, top film.

Waiter - Would you like to see the specials sir?
Bateman - Not if you want to keep your spleen!

Priceless.

Go and see your doctor. He will prescribe a sanity pill

Patrick Bateman: Come on, Bryce. There are a lot more important problems than Sri Lanka to worry about.

Patrick Bateman: Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your :censored: . Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.
 How can you not like this film???? :lease:

This film is a cult classic, the book is darker and lot more violent, but not required reading, anyone not liking this film, because they dont get it, can't you see the dark humour, the 80's obsession with greed, power and envy (the business card scene)? Or is another one of those 'i dont geddit' films not considered any good because you dont geddit? tch tch pity you, in that case Under Siege is a classic as theres nothing to get.
