Question American History X Blu Ray

Just tried watching this film on Amazon Prime only to discover that it's been cut to hell. The "curby" scene has been removed altogether and is totally watered down now, which takes away the full impact of the film, along with various other scenes.
I've tried looking for a full uncut version but the only one that seems to be available is a Dutch import with hard embedded English subtitles.
Does anyone know if the full uncut version is available on Blu Ray anywhere else?

Just checked my US disc - film run time: 1 hr 58 mins 53 seconds. IMDB and Wikipedia both state the run time as being 1 hr 59 mins.

According to the BBFC, the films runtime on video release here was 1 hr 53 mins 55 seconds (which is 4% faster, probably the good old PAL speed up effect).

So I'd say that the US region free disc is uncut. And it's £3 used on Amazon!!!!!

Utterly stunning film - still remember being blown away by it the cinema and still am today. Norton was robbed of the Oscar that year.

Ain't it odd that I'm pretty sure I've only ever watched this film on terrestrial or Sky at most as I've not purchased it on any format. That infamous curb scene was in there uncut as it has such an impact that its hard to forget .

Film 4 maybe , sure my first watch of Audition was on there uncut an all.

Thanks for all the help guys. I will check those out.
I was very disappointed when I started watching it on Prime to find it was the cut version. Didn't realise they were applying their own brand of censorship similar to terrestrial TV. Not what I was expecting, especially from a subscription service.

I think I've only seen this recorded off the tv. Vividly remember the curb scene. Ch4 doesn't (didn't) tend to edit stuff.

Well I just purchased the Warner Bros New Line Cinema blu Ray and its cut. Even though the runtime is showing as 119 mins on the case.
Showing a BBFC 15 certification. Barcode 5 051892 027922.
If anyone can advise on a proper uncut version it would be greatly appreciated. Don't really want to have to buy multiple copies of the censored version

Well it would appear if you buy it in the UK it is labeled incorrectly so the US or Aus would be your safe bet.

Thanks for that. And that's definitely the full uncut version? If so I'll track one down.
I have watched the DVD, upgraded to BR a few years ago and seen it a few times. I can't remember being short changed - and the run time says 1:59. Cert 18.

But on holiday, can't check....

There are two movies on blu-ray.com. Check the back covers. One is 15 at 114mins.

The one I have is showing 18 at 119m. Very confident.

The one I have is showing the same runtime with a 15 certificate.
Would you be interested in selling your 18 cert copy if it is indeed the uncut version?

On Amazon.co.uk there are two blu rays for American History X (not including the USA import)....

1) Cert 18 Running Time 114 mins
2) Cert 15 Running Time 119 mins

Any suggestions as to which is the uncut version? The one at 119 mins would appear to be the one, but if so why is it Cert 15?

See all the previous posts, and bar codes are in there. Use blu-ray.com too...
The DD THD 5.1 is 18 Cert (looks to be same as US release), while the DTS-MSHD 7.1 is 15 Cert.

Looks like I should have kept the DVD. My BR also has the scene cut.....

Damn! Was that the 18 cert version that was cut?
I don't understand how they could've done a review of the blu Ray here on Avforums saying that it was in there. Did they really watch the film? :thumbsdow

Hang on.....
I decided to watch the whole thing.

First 6 mins, doesn't show it. Pistol whipping.

54mins in, it's there in another flashback.

Did you watch all your version?

No I didn't! Doh! Gonna have to check that.
Many thanks for going through it, I'd never have discovered that as I always thought it was at the beginning of the film.

Sincere thanks for going through the film! You're right it's there at 54 mins.
I was sure it was at the beginning of the film originally.
Anyway thanks for clearing things up.
