Hi, does anyone have any advice on the best American fridge freezer in the £1000 - £1500 bracket?
I've been looking at the Samsungs (rs7667) and LGs (gsl761,760 and 961)but I've heard the aftercare can be poor with these and it's hard to compare them and decide which is the best model.
I've also had a look at the Siemens models but these seem a bit more expensive, are they worth it?
    Any recommendations?
    Thanks
    Mark

I bought an LG earlier this year and I’m really happy with it so far. It came with a 2 year warranty but I paid a little extra more for another 2 years and accidental coverage with that as well. It’s not often I pay for extra warranty but this seemed good value to me :

Hi Mark, was wondering which one you went for and if you would recommend it.

Hi HMHB, which model number of LG did you go for and how has it been so far. So many to choose from it's almost as bad as picking a new tv!!!

I bought the GSL761PZXV. Initially I wasn't going to bother with the water/ice dispenser but did so because it was actually cheaper than the plain one. I'm really glad I did go for this one now :)

It's been great so far apart from an initial problem where the pipe supplying the water to the dispenser wasn't quite on properly (they had to remove the doors to get it into my house) but I was able to reseat that myself without problem.

Thanks for the info HMHB. I have the option to go for a plumbed in one or a non plumbed in one. I looked up the model you have and the reviews are quite good. Will have to take a look in town and hopefully take advantage of the prices available in the next couple of weeks.

I went for the non-plumbed version so that the water gets to cool down in the fridge :)

I think that could be a plus point with more or less instant cold water. Does the ice maker work well or take up much space?

The ice maker is good as well. I mostly use the crushed ice facility and wouldn’t be without it now.it takes a bit of space in the freezer side of things but only in the door region. For me it’s fine :)

That's good to know. There is a couple at my work who rave about the non plumbed in one 'cause they've filled the water dispenser with Rose wine!!

I also need help regarding this.

Curry's have reduced the SAMSUNG RSG5UUMH American-Style Fridge Freezer for £879. 615 litre space and very good reviews, however, I'm not sure to wait till mid January to buy it. Would the prices be the same in the January sales?

After a lot of looking around I went for the kenwood ksbsdib17. The size of the freezer part was really good as the ice maker was on the door. This took up less space than the others with it being there. Got a handy metal wine rack in the fridge part also. Plumbing it in was really simple using a washing machine type tap connector. Currys were doing a £50 off at the time so using a work discount scheme it came in at £575 delivered. What I will say is even though it weighs a lot, I feel it would be quite easy dented but I think this would be the same on them all.
