Folks iam heading over to the us of a in july and am thinking of bringing back a ps3.

what are the concerns over doing this for me ? as region codes, online, game issues

sorry if this has been asked before, i looked but no real definied answers

The issues that may affect your purchase are

1. region 1 dvds
2. region a blu ray
3. only compatible with ntsc ps1/2 games



On the plus side
1. it's cheaper by quite a bit
2. US films are cheaper and better
3. It needs no stepdown converter, runs from a uk kettle lead-straight from the mains (It has a voltage transformer built into it).
4. it is region free for ps3 games
5. You can play online games (the server they connect to is decided by the game not the machine, so a PAL game will connect to the eu servers and NTSC to the US servers etc.

not to mention, if the machines goes bellies up, things are very sketchy on Sony covering warranty on import machines- they didnt on the PSPs so i very much doubt they will with the ps3...i bought my machine here but have managed to my money buying import software on hols...
