Have you ever heard of Secret Garden, the group (Instrumental and light vocals)that is I find them very relaxing I think they way have some tracks to listen to over at Amazon.
Also I like classical not to heavy mind like Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov or Rodrigo’s Concierto De Aranjuez both of these you will know the tunes of even if you only have a smattering of knowledge of classicals.
I also like to chill out with some Henry Mancini stuff not soundtrack albums but mixtures of stuff.

Boards of Canada are very ambient and chilled - along similar lines to early Orb stuff.

I always find dub to be very relaxing too - give any Dub Syndicate album a try.

Biosphere and Boards of Canada should be easy to find and not too way-out for an ambient newbie.
Future Sound Of London's Lifeforms album would be good, too

Try the 'Bent' album called 'Programmed to Love'. Takes a few listens, but they're always the best ones. Probably get it cheap now as it's a few years old - in fact it's £7.50 on amazon (uk site)

Yup - Bent is a good shout - they have new album out soon too. Also try Lemon Jelly and Kruder and Dorfmeister (their sessions album is tops).

p.s I Thought somebody above had recommended Savage Garden. Thank the Lord I misread it.

If your internet connection is reasonable you can try listening to ClassicFM or JazzFM live radio stream. Both stations frequently broadcast very relaxing music.

Speaking of streaming radio, give Limbik Frequencies a try. Very chilled.
