I watched the first season and very much enjoyed it , got about halfway through season two and my interest in it wained to the point I never returned .

Well it's only the first two episodes, and it was a good opening, just - for me - I got the feeling that it was going to be rushed (as I mentioned GoT several times, you get the idea; it's still quality TV but it's going to twist and turn unnaturally to get to the preordained conclusion).

You may get more mileage however because you said you loved the previous series' whereas I struggled. I thought the first was excellent, but the second, whilst very good, started to drift off track (although that was largely ok because it had some great characters introduced). The third was a big waste, however (IMO), and they spent far too much time 'back home' - and apart - with only the final couple of episodes coming good. If your faith never faltered then I suspect you'll find this 9/10 like the rest...

I completely understand this. I jumped a few episodes into season 3 (not long after I'd done the review which, ironically, was very positive based on the opening episode). However... I did force myself back in anticipation of this final season, and I found the last 2-3 episodes of season 3 started to get stuff done. Now you know it's actually getting a proper ending, it may not be such a bad thing tuning back in, although I completely understand why you jumped off.

Season one i don't think there was a dull moment. Season 2-3 had the similer theme of a slow build up of the story but its the character's the violence and the sheer weirdness that keep you entertained.

Defo agree about Season 1. Agree about 2-3 to a point but I got bored by the abortive vampire cult, and gamma'. It felt waaay too protracted. But maybe I'd been spoiled by the books. And to be fair it did come good in the end.

I must have gotten carried away, I actually can't find any 4K (which isn't really a surprise given their UI, and their odd choice to now label EVERYTHING as having Dolby Vision) but I'm guessing there's actually no 4K version this time around.

Love this series. Its bonkers. So is the 4th worth a watch because I don't subscribe at the moment? And is the Expanse out yet as there are different dates being given?

Well it's being released weekly, so if you're going to trial subscribe, you need to wait for the whole lot to be out (about 8 more weeks). And Expanse I think it's closer to the end of the year; I'm sure Preacher will still be available then.

I stopped watching the boring second season, is it worth watching the last two seasons?

If you loved the first, but drifted off midway through the second and, if you can't stomach quickly burning through 2 and 3 (which isn't really that hard) then the highlights come in the last 2 episodes of 2, the first two episodes of season 3, the last 3 episodes of season 3, and now season 4, which moves a lot faster. That's only 7 episodes out of 20-odd to get you up to date without missing too much.

Just completed The Boys – which was some of the best TV in a long while – probably for me since season 1 of Preacher which I caught last year. Season 4 marks a welcome return. Some laugh out loud moments – God with the dinosaurs; The Grail members under Jesse’s control – particularly liked the “you’re not my supervisor” scene in the lobby. Don’t know where it’s going but have a good feeling so far…

Season 1 was awesome and not being a comic book fan I enjoyed the madness and the two angels really added some comic relief. Season 2 was a real let down so plodding and tended to focus on side characters which did not really add much. Season 3 was mixed but enjoyable and I agree towards the end it really came back on form.

It's really tricky to do the slow burn and also keep it interesting. Will catch up with season 4 in a bit. However as mentioned the the pod cast it's getting a bit annoying to watch the series only to find out that it's finishing and no real conclusion to it or like American Gods extending the tv series but not really adding much and you start to lose fans then it ends.

I would much prefer that they just commit to doing the book or comic source material like Good Omens and then just say done.
I highly recommend Happy 1 & 2 on Netflix that is just a fantastic show which just builds and builds.

Hi VisionMan I really think that if you liked Precher you'll love Happy. You do have to stick with it at the start as it's more show not tell to start with, but once it gets going there is no going back....

The Expanse Season 3 is out but that only dropped recently so there is a bit of a wait for season 4. Again really great and had to rush it as Prime was finishing and was not renewing it. Altered Carbon was outstanding...

I think it's fair to say Joseph Gilgun has been the consistent high point to this and were he not to of been so entertaining, I'd of given up an age ago. He really gave Cassidy breadth and depth. Pip Torrens has also been a lifeline as Herr starr, in his dogged portrayal of enlightened psychopathy sprinkled with the blackest of humour.
It's a shame it's leaving but more so that it never had people helming it in a direct route, considering there is so much material.

I’m a huge Preacher (comic) fan but I barely made it through the first episode. Is it worth me persevering given the apparently massive changes to characters / plots?
