Seems fair. I felt the pilot was quite plodding, but then I never really liked the film to be honest

Anything with Joel Kinneman in gets a watch in our house though.

It's got to the point now that I rely on @Casimir Harlow to watch all the shows on Netflix and Amazon before deciding whether to bother or not .. I seriously dont understand how you have time but it's appriciated. Any chance you can watch and review the legend of cocaine island next :)..

Shame it scored low. I did enjoy the pilot although it dragged on. I get the sense the whole series does the same. I'll still watch it, but not as excited as I was!

Personally I think it's really good.

      Better than the film IMO.

Was looking forward to this but a somewhat disappointing score review has put me off a little one to catch later maybe.

I've been very impressed with it so far :/ Sure, it's not as tight as the film... But I am actually enjoying how they're fleshing out the characters. If you're going in expecting the film you'll be mistaken - it's more Patriot than Hanna.

Watched the first episode yesterday and enjoyed it even though it's a straight 're run of the film ( which I love ) I will watch the rest as I like the casting. Hopefully it will lead to a second series that will expand her charecter and the story further.

I’m yet to see the film so can’t compare but I enjoyed the series. Looked good in HDR as well. Joel Kinnaman and Mireille Enos are reliable and the Hanna character was likeable as the ingenue assassin.

      hey folks,

I am upto episode five and it is more darker than I thought I would be.
Joel Kinneman is always a good bet and seeing him and Eros at opposite ends from (The Killing) does work. Some parts are predictable but the actress playing Hanna does a great work. KUDOS, we forget how young she is in the chaos that taking place around her.....
Lots of shooting, politics (no mention of Brexit) and killings.
      What more do you need?

I did watch the film some years ago but this is a bit darker.
Does it work is the question, stretching the story over a season.. answer is YES!
      Enjoy.

      Solid 7.5/10 so far.

How is the music? Obviously I adore the Chems, but the brilliant Ben Salisbury & Geoff Barrow are on score duty for the series, and I'm half tempted to sit through it just for that.

It's great when it's on, but they only really pull off something distinctive once an episode, so that's maybe 10-20% of the entire season runtime. It's a little like the more action-thriller aspects, they're more spaced out and (for me) diluted as a result. This could have been as good as the Chemical Brothers score, had it been the score of a movie, but they haven't done enough material to make for an aurally memorable TV series. Final episode is unsurprisingly the exception on all counts, of course.

I watched the first four episodes. Enjoyed the first, but by episode four I was bored to tears. I found the action side of things comically amateurish. Did you notice how many of the action bits and pieces play out off-camera? I mean literally the camera is looking at someone else when the punches and kicks are occurring? That's a sign that your actor can't do the physical stuff. And when it is in shot, oh my. What's the opposite of slick?

Likewise, there are a number of scenes where some of the time we're looking at one person's nodding face while the other is speaking. This is a sign that whatever was originally shot was poor and had to be revisited and re-dubbed in the editing suite, because there wasn't the budget for reshoots.

Sadly, for me, the smudgy state of it, where everything has been rubbed out and redrawn over and over – it didn't pass me by. And the struggle to make this passable is there for all to see. Passable it is, just, but it could have been great.

And yeah, Cas. Once again you nailed it. Six is the right score.

Personally, I don't have an issue with a TV series essentially rehashing a film. If the plot of the original film was interesting then it is probably interesting enough to support a short TV series. So to me, a TV series should be reviewed in isolation without having to compare it to the original film.

The TV series does not necessarily have to bring anything new to the table. This is especially true when the original film was not a huge hit, as was the case with Hanna, so most of the audience for the TV series will not have seen it.

I have enjoyed the first few episodes of this TV series more than I enjoyed Hanna the movie. For me the movie was OK but although it had a good cast and story I didn't like its overall style.

thought the film was tedious rubbish. La Femme Nikita and Haywire have done similar plots far far better.

4 episodes and I am enjoying it a lot

perhaps having not seen the film helps?

6 seems harsh to me on what I have watched so far

      Quick update:

Finished it last night and it ended on a high note.
Trying not to give any spoilers, worth a punt, better than watching Eastenders :D
8 episodes is about right, looking forward to season 2.
      The story continues.

      Enjoy folks!

      Another fairly weighted review, Cas.
I saw the first episode, fell asleep and then just let it run on 7 and 8 and that seemed to work enough. Job done. Jog on. Seen the film.

Was OK until the world's most annoying family turn up and it turns into hollyoaks for a few episodes. JK can do the action, the girl can't. Which is a bit of a problem.

I'm really enjoying this show so far, I'm on episode 7. I think 6/10 is very harsh tbh, but I haven't seen the film so that obviously helps because as a standalone series it's really enjoyable.
