As you may know my October 20th order of the HD-E1 was cancelled - presumably because I made too many enquiries (3 in 2 months). Here is their latest e-mail.
Dear Customer
Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk with your concerns for
"Toshiba HD-E1 HD DVD High Definition DVD Player".
Although this item is still listed in our catalogue as being available
and it is currently still possible to place an order for it on our
website, such an order would be cancelled, as we are unable to obtain
a copy and our catalogue will shortly be updated to reflect this
item's new status.
We would like to offer our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience
to you over your order. Thank you for shopping at Amazon.co.uk.
Please let us know if this e-mail answered your question:
I hardly think that answers my question. Here is my reply:
I received your e-mail explaining why you have cancelled my order. I am a little puzzled for 2 reasons. Firstly, as I ordered on October 20th I must be one of the first in line therefore I would receive one of your first batch of stock. Secondly, I belong to an Av forum on which a number of members have the player on order and have not been cancelled. I think that you have too many orders to meet reasonable demands and therefore it is easier to cancel my order. I think this is a shocking way to treat a loyal customer!
Well, it looks like I'm off to Hifi Bitz who, when I spoke to them earlier today, sounded as annoyed with the delays as us. Toshiba also told me today that retailers would have stock sent out or receive stock on Wednesday of this week.
Who knows........
