Is an update for the Kindle Fire imminent? An upcoming press event Amazon to be held on September 6 has ignited speculation that the online giant will be releasing some new Tablet news on the back of their success with the Kindle Fire. Amazon hasn't released any details on what will be revealed but as it's being organised by the Kindle wing of the business, it looks extremely likely to be Tablet related. "There's been a lot of rumors about another potential Kindle tablet," said Pete Finalle, a tablet analyst at Frost & Sullivan, speaking to Reuters. "The existing Kindle Fire is due for an update given Google's new tablet," Finalle went on, "The hardware could use a refresh." With Apple holding their own event, just 6 days later, where we think the iPad mini might be unveiled, the timing is looking strategic from Amazon in a bid to steal some of their thunder. Fat chance but worth a try, we guess. "It might be beneficial for Amazon to have more than one tablet device in their repertoire," Finalle said. "Having a larger tablet that comes in at a lower price point than Apple's iPad would be particularly beneficial."
