So got a pop up this morning, from the first of January Amazon Fire TV is losing the YouTube app.
What the hell, just bought a stick mainly for YouTube.

Can you get it through a browser on the stick?

Not sure, I will have to have a look later. It will make it more fiddly for the rest of the family though.

Otherwise, if you have recently bought it, I would return it and swap for the £29 Roku.

Amazon won't sell Google products so Google are taking their ball home.

If this escalates, we'll all be back to our cable and satellite TV subscriptions.

Add link as bookmark in browser, that will give TV interface via web. Not sure if you can add bookmarks to home screen on FireTV.
    Code:
    https://www.youtube.com/tv#/
There is more going on than a spat with Amazon, Google wants to force companies to sign agreements in using Youtube, they've done this before and deliberately deprived Microsoft platforms of various Google clients. The Youtube client for Xbox is bare bones and poorly developed in comparison to any other made by Google. A third party client called myTube for Xbox is superior in every way.

The industry badly needs a viable Youtube alternative

Thats annoying, but another way round it would be to airplay/cast from a phone/laptop/tablet etc.

Personally I prefer to airplay youtube from my laptop as I have an adblocker so I dont get ads all the time. Its also easier and quicker to search. I get that its not going to be good for a lot of people though.

That's what Google want you to do, it's their product, why give in to them

Same here, installed Firefox from the message link, now YouTube is working just fine, think it's Amazon's way around the removal of the app..
Thank you Amazon and up yours Google...
