I have ordered 6 HD DVDs for $107 incl shipping (about £54) and even if Iget charged duty & vat they are still a bargain. :smashin::clap:

Just a note:

DO NOT use 1 click buying (the offer doesn't work that way).
You won't see the discount until you go to the final stage of confirmation (the page after the gift wrap options). If the discount is not applied at that point, you can still cancel.

Assuming you get charged VAT/Duty/Handling charge etc etc, the final bill will probably be around £70

That's £11.66 per film. Pretty good as it's still (just) under the likes of Movietyme/DVD Pacific etc etc.

I may take a look later.

Might order 3 and given the total price will only be around £25. It might sneak through:rolleyes:

Just added up the titles if I got from movietyme:

The Bourne Supremacy
Charlie & the Chocolate Factory
Pitch Black
V for Vendetta
The Big Lebowski
TMNT

Total: 86.94.

So, even by your figures I still saved 16.98. If they sneak through, I saved £32 :D

Not bad:smashin:

Is there a specific link you have to follow.

Just been on the US site and couldn't find any mention of it at first glance..

No link and it hasn't even been promoted by Amazon AFAIK. AVS members found out by accident and the titles were derived from people trying combinations. However, there was one post that said the offer is good till near the end of September (but I have no idea where they got that info from).

If you shop smart (by buying the expensive ones at places like movietyme) then you could save a lot more than me. But the ones that were expensive, I already have....

WellI tried a few other HD-DVD combinations:rolleyes::rolleyes::D and that didn't work so I picked from the list you supplied and that didn't work either:eek:

I went through to the enter Credit Card details and up to this time, it was still showing $60 (3 x 19.95).

I'll take a look at AVS later tonight and maybe try again then.

You have to go past the credit card details. Next there will be 'gift wrap' options. Go past that and that is the final page before confirming your order. This is the page where the discount applies (you can still back out at this point).

I also saw this on the AVS forum this morning & it took a couple of attempts before it worked (usual stuff; clearing cookies & logging in and out of Amazon).

But I finally managed to order three HD-DVDs for 2
300 (Combo)
Happy Feet (Combo)
V For Vendetta

The discount didn't appear until the final confirmation page.

Cheers

The other nice thing is that Amazon apply the 10% discount on the total order and then subtract the cost of the third movie.

I'm glad this wasn't moved till after I'd seen it as I rarely look in the bargains forums. I probably need to start.:D

I don't generally look in this forum either. Had to hunt for it after the post was moved

How do you get another 10% off?

Have PM'd but will add the info here so as not to create any confusion.

The 10% off deal was an offer amazon ran last xmas, if you ordered 3 HD movies or a HD player then you qualified for a 10% discount on HD purchases for a year.

I haven't used it that often as MT etc tend to offer very good prices without the hassle of possibly getting stung by the dreaded RM "handling" charge. It seems the "handling" is not unlike the "protection" rackets that the Krays used to oversee.

Yeah, the 'handling' charge is a total rip off. The courier companies do it too.

Just checked over on AVS. Thread started 24 hours ago. 13 pages and 360+ posts:eek:

Seems it's quite popular:rotfl:

Many thanks, took a few attempts to get some HD-Dvd's I wanted but the BluRays went through no problem.

For info ordered HD-DVD

Happy Gilmore
Poseidon (really enjoyed this ... shoot me now)
Friday Night Lights
Pitch Black
V for Vendetta
The Game

BluRay

Kung Fu Hustle
G.I. Jane (really just shoot me)
Species
The Terminator
The Last Samurai
Reign of Fire

Have you checked the eproduct wars web site? The graphs have gone insane!

Never realy used that site so not sure what half of it is saying:rolleyes:.

The Black (HD-DVD) bars do appear to have shot up though:thumbsup:

No wonder when you read through the AVS thread. On page 7 now and everyones been summarising their orders, 3 HD-DVD's, some 6, some 9 and so on:rotfl::rotfl:

Add in the free shipping they get over there and the prices their paying are crazy:rotfl::rotfl:

Often around £18 (coverted) for 3 x HD-DVD's, shipped:eek::eek:

tried it with serenity, batman begins and king kong but it didn't discount at all... oh well, i don't have a HD DVD player so it's not the end of the world :D

You didn't continue far enough.

You didn't continue far enough.

phew i'm glad there's a psychic here to show me the error of my ways.. actually i got as far as the confirm order page, i don't think you can get any further than that..

Don't think KK is applicable.

You pick one wrong disc and you won't get any discount.

Take a look at the thread on AVS to see what you can choose from.;)

'Tis true, KK isn't on the list (although it was when I cut & pasted the list). I have now updated my first post with the correct list for HD DVD.

Actually, Amazon are now listing this offer. Go to their home page and in the top right there is a 'Three BluRay discs for the price of two' link. Click that and you can see the offers.

Any way (sneaky or non sneaky:rotfl:) to reduce Amazon's charge of $11.96 ($4.49 + 3 x $2.49) when ordering 3 films?

I can't see how you'd get round the S&H charge but would also be interested to know if there is a way.

:)

Just used this to order myself 9 HD and BRays  Should all escape HMCE charges as with the 10% discount applied and the free disc the total for each batch of 3 came in at under £17 (even at $1.95 to the £ will only be £17.95) as you should not be penalised for the postage on the total value of the goods (might have to query it if you do get charged but worth the hassle as my 9 discs came in at £7.53 per DVD!!!!

Also couldn't resist ordering the HD-A2 with 3 HD-DVDs for a grand total of £101 (@$2 to £1)

Item(s) Subtotal: $322.73
Shipping & Handling: $17.62
Promotional Certificate: $-8.39
Super Saver Discount: $-17.62
Promotion Applied: $-83.85
Promotion Applied: $-27.95
-----
Total Before Tax: $202.54
Estimated Tax: $0.00
-----
Grand Total: $202.54

(plus another 5 free HD-DVDs as well on a mail in rebate ) You will need to get this shipped to a US address but for a new HD player plus 8 discs for just £100 I couldn't resist it :D
