Amazon are running a new 3 for £17 promotion including some great titles at a fiver(ish) a pop. I've just loaded up on the following:

    1. Stand by Me
    2. Roger Rabbit
    3. Jaws
    4. Lawrence of Arabia
    5. Taxi Driver
    6. Event Horizon

Many were in the 2 for £10 offer but some corking new titles available. My own selection:

Enter the dragon 40th anniversary edition
    O brother where art thou
Wallace and Gromit complete collection (I know it's far from being actually complete!)

I was tempted by O' Brother too, and The Shining. Oh well, i guess those winter nights are drawing in!

Take care - if the disc isn't supplied by Amazon then the discount won't be taken off despite the disc supposedly being in the offer, eg. The Birds. However, I did notice with some that Amazon does appear as an option in the box to the right-hand of the order page. I suppose this is going to vary over the length of the offer though.

Anyway, I decided to upgrade some of my DVDs:
    Lawrence Of Arabia.
    Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
Star Trek 1 - The Motion Picture.
    The Wizard Of Oz.
    L.A. Confidential.
    War Of The Worlds.
    Apollo 13.
    The Others.
    The Lost Boys.

Most of my choices weren't in the 2 For £10

    Lawrence of Arabia
    From Here to Eternity
    The Raid
    Easter Parade
    Pitch Black
    Sneakers

There's six more I might go back for later. The email I got said this is going to be on until January so no hurry.

The Enter the dragon 40th Anniversary Edition is a bit of a bargain, plus i've just noticed that each purchase qualifies for a £1 credit for mp3 downloads, which is nice. Having now bought nine blus in all, that's a couple of free albums too!

Although still an added bonus, is that mp3 credit not limited to one per customer?

You might be right, although the way I read it was that it applied to each qualifying product, and it appeared next to each product in my shopping basket. I guess proof will be in what i'm credited with after dispatch.

Tried including Rec 3 but even though it's fulfilled by Amazon, it's a a different seller so the 3 for 17 doesn't apply. Anyone know if you can get round this?

Went for O Brother, Good Will Hunting and Moonrise Kingdom at first but cancelled and changed Good Will Hunting for Enter The Dragon. Someone told me the new version wasn't any good but I must've heard wrong after reading a few reviews just now!

Might dip this offer again as there are a few films I want in the offer. Not as cheap as 2 for £10 but some of them (e.g. newer releases) are worth it. Plus I wanted to upgrade a bunch of stuff anyway :)

Amazon (as seller) comes up for me for Rec 3. If it doesn't for you, click on 'more buying choices' on right hand side & scroll down until you see the Amazon listing.

Transfer for the 40th anniversary is much improved, BUT the picture is slightly cropped...

Pfft, for £5.66 it's not worth quibbling about. I paid £14 for the EtD:40th Blu-ray and I was happy with that, so the rest of you should fill yer boots!

This is one of the best multibuy offers Ive seen in a while to be fair. Trying to decide on which ones to go for!

I can live with that. Almost bought the previous edition a couple of times so if they've at least improved the transfer then that's fine! Good price anyway :) kinda annoying though as there are about 10 titles I want to upgrade in this offer...can I justify spending £34 here and now? Maybe end of the week...

Subject to reviews, I want Roger Rabbit and Groundhog Day, so I'd better have a look for a third. Trouble is, with several previous versions of this promo, I went in for 3 and came out with 12 - or more. My spare coffee table is already groaning under the weight of upgraded DVDs that I've been too lazy to ship off to musicmagpie.

I keep adding titles trying to decide on which 3 I can afford. I am now tempted with Dune as I have recently watched the mini series and fancy watching the film again. I have it on DVD but would like to see it in HD. Anyone know if it exactly the same as the US version ?

Nope...get the US one, its cheap anyway and region-free. PQ and AQ are noticeably better on US one and yes I compared them next to each other. Uk slip is nice though! ;-)

I won't bother with Dune then. I wouldn't want to pay more than about a fiver for it anyway. I am now a bit tempted with the 1978 Battlestar blu. It has been years since I have seen it, is it a self contained story or does it carry on into the rest of season 1 ?

This offer is not as good as it appears. The discs you select have to come from Amazon and not third party suppliers.

Confused as to how this can be done

    I wanted:
    Batman Begins - Triple Play
    ETD - 40th Edition
    The Social Network

    And i can't have them !

Just tried those for you - the standard edition Batman Begins works but the triple play single and double packs are both sold out from Amazon so that selection isn't possible unless they come back.

    I've ordered these from Amazon:

    The Caine Mutiny
    Groundhog Day
    Men in Black 3
    Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
    John Carter
    From Here to Eternity
    Titanic
    Jaws
    Resident Evil: Retribution

and these from TheHut (saving about 93p):

    Chicago
    Final Destination 5

I still have 10 items on my "3 for £17" wish list, so I'll be back again well before the promotion ends on 5 January. I'm just fed up of checking for now. And I do wish Amazon would introduce an A-Z sort.
