I noticed in the Richer Sounds catalogue Jan/Feb issue, they have the Paradigm Servo-15 on sale for £500.
    http://www.paradigm.ca/Website/ReferenceProduct/Servo/servo15intro.html

This is a very highly rated sub, just look here-
    http://www.audioreview.com/reviews/Subwoofer/product_8156.shtml

    $1500 in the US!!!!!!

If you're looking for a sub or fancy a upgrade (and if you can find one) buy it!!!

The Leeds branch of Richer Sounds said they have none in stock, however the system showed 6 in the warehouse.

    I hope this helps someone.

    Cheers

The Leeds RS never seemed to have anything in stock. Maybe because there's a severe lack of HiFi dealers in Leeds centre.

Just seen this post at 'another' forum-

".....if your budget stretches at all...go with the Paradigm servo 15...I haven't heard anything under 3000 (dollars) that impresses me as much."

When I bought my Paradigm PDR 10 from the Sheffield branch of RS just before Christmas they told me that they tend not to suffer as much as other branches with lack of stock...dont know why though?

Never realsied that there were so many other forum users who loved in the Yorkshire area.

As Big Jim points out, HCC gives it a glowing review.

Richer Sounds will give you a 14 day no problems trail, give it a whirl if you can/want.

For £500 you could be having a whole new bass experience. [IMG]

Nottingham branch say they are definitely £800 and they were decided iffy in their response, not even saying if they could get one let alone two (muttering about deposits etc).

Sheffield said they were £499 and there was a wait of a few weeks to get them. They took my details and said they would get back in contact when they had them. Then just at the end they told me to speak to another local dealer as they specialise in BIG subs for big rooms. Either they were very open and honest about info or they know that they will not be able to fulfil my order for two of these devices. I finished the phone call on a sinking feeling that I was wasting my time with Richer Sounds. I will bide my time and see what happens. I will give them the benefit of the doubt, as the Sheffield branch seemed very helpful / friendly (albeit poorly imformed about Paradigm products), unlike Nottingham who just didn't care.

I hope my impressions are wrong but experience........

Oh dear! It has now been about 4.5 weeks and guess what?

Zilch. No phone call, nothing. Richer sounds at their best as ever? Now how could I have predicted that.......

Well, I got fed up waiting so I contacted RS. Just by co-incidence there were two in the warehouse (!). They could get them in for Wednesday. Great I thought. Then just at the end they said phone before just in case. Oh, that sinking feeling again......

Now the shop is 5 hours drive from me and I will be in the area on Wednesday / Thursday. Let’s see if they can deliver? I will be very ****ed off if I go all that way and they can't.

Am I asking for two much, all I want to do is buy two subs?

its a great bargain abnd all the rest guys.....but it depends what you want it for! It is one big beast! I went for a Rel storm ahead of it cause the paradigm was just too big for my room....i couldnt stop the windows resonating! and as a final bit, not that this should matter to cinephiles, but as an audio sub, it dont quite cut the mustard, what big woofer just cant move fat enough!!!

Just to bring people up to date:

Well here is a summary of my experieces trying to track these down to date.

my last post left it at phone back wednesday. Well I did and was told to phone
thursady. Phoned thursday and was told to phone friday. Phoned friday and was
told to phone next tuesday. Phonned the next tuesday and they said they would
look in the warehouse and check stocks. I was at this point two weeks ago. A
similar run around for that week as well. Well I gave up for a week or two. I
popped into Nottingham branch and they said they could get them no problem.

No I was getting really confused but gave Sheffield one last chance. Told them
to have another go and called them back a week later. They had got them but
didn't bother telling me they had arrived. That was tuesday. I said I would
collect on friday. Wednesday I phoned if they could measure the size of the
outer packaging as they are very large and it determined which car I would need
to bring. They said they would phone back. They never did. I tried again on
thursday and eventually got an answer out of them. I collected the two boxes on
the friday as I organised (This is a 10 hr round trip for me).

This now brings us upto date. Three things to add:

    1. One servo 15 Dead on Arrival.
    2. No mains leads supplied (not too bothered about this).
    3. There were non of the 7m phono to phono leads advertised on the Paradigm
brochures. (2 needed for the two subs).

I phoned through the problems on tuesday after the bank holiday. They said they
would phone back in half an hour. They didn't. I phoned in the evening and they
said they would sort it on wednesday. They didn't. I faxed the details and all
my details on wednesday and have heard nothing since.

I will leave the reader to decide whether this is a good service from Richer
    Sounds.

Would I do this again. Yes I would buy the Paradigm sub again as it performance
    is awesome, wrt Richer Sounds.......

All I wanted to do is buy two subs advertised in their latest catalogue. Is that
too much to ask for? The advert has been repeated this month by the way.

    Comments?

    Nic,

The Hull branch have one in their demo room. They offered me a £30 discount as it was (very slightly) scratched demo stock. It was working when I listened to it !!!

    May be worth a try,
    Gary

How can you be 5 hours away from Sheffield and not closer to another branch?!

    I don't get it.

BTW I've always found richer sounds to be nothing more than box shifters with a shop frontage and their only saving graces are their occasional genuine bargains and the fact that they tend to swap stuff out there and then if you have any problems. (if they have it in stock).

    See ya

Mine arrived today (29/05/01) - no controller box and the sub does not work (it burps like mad - even with no phono lead connected!). Also the grill is cracked :(

send it back ! shame. I was told I had the last one in the warehouse.

    Alex, dodgey2 and everyone else

Just to bring you up to date on my saga.

Several phone calls and faxes later the manager of RS shipped a new servo15 upto me. Both are working fine and this really is an awesome sub. The carrier was supposed to collect the old one but refused. I left it a couple of weeks and nothing happened. I also contacted Paradigm and they were excellent in Canada and are sending me the missing leads. As the boxes were huge 'her in doors' wanted them out so I faxed RS again and they sounded genuinely surprized that it hadn't been collected. They arranged collection the next day and they are sending me two leads (Cambridge 10m?) but we are still suffering the final postal strike delays. (Paradigm / RS messages got crossed). I expect them tomorrow. This might mean that I have a RS set and a Paradigm set but I don't feel too bad about it. I didn't think RS would come through. So when the leads come I will be all sorted.

The manager of RS did leave a phone message to check everything was okay now which I thought was good but look how long this thread has beeen going now.

All is resolved now and I am happy but it was HARD work.

The closest RS is actually 5.5 hrs round trip but it is easier to travel a bit further to the city where my brother is and then I can have some help at the other end, as well as a bed and beer. I also know his city better. But yes we are a very long way from anywhere....

Hey all ... got a working Paradigm now (minus the controller which is coming Tuesday).

It is awesome!!! (see my thread "....any advice welcome").

    WOWOWOWOWOWO :D

Richer sounds: Sub 1 - delivered faulty + no controller. Sub 2 - delivered working + no controller!. They said they could not send controller on it's own (stock control system would not allow), they suggested collecting my working one, then sending out another (with controller).I suggested that as they had got it wrong twice so far that I would be better keeping the working sub and they work a "way round" their problem, and despatch me a box ASAP. They have.
