That the top 3 must have 42" plasmas are as follows :-

1. Pioneer 434 ( because of HDMI )
2. Panny 6
3. Hitachi 42PD3000

Is the new Hitachi 42PD5000 going to be the new King ?

jack,

Different people will have different top3's dependant upon how they like their picture - to me it would probs be:

1. Panny 6
2. Pioneer 434
3. Hitcahi

Hence why it's best to demo before you buy...and make your own decision

same story but if you're taking price into account
1. Pioneer 434
2. Hitachi
3. panny 6

But there is an HDMi possibility on the panny so hitachi would only be the cheaper bet not the better.
I'd go with the pioneer if it was me, but like the man said.....

and bang for buck must be a consideration too. I agree with what I have seen that the Pioneer is amazing but it is a grand more and to get the best from it you will need a HDMI DVD player too. Can't wait to see the new Hitachi too :)

I would be putting the Fujitsu VHA and NEC XM2 above any Hitachi personally...
