I have just finished installing the following equipment

    Panasonic TH-50PHD7 --- Denon AVC-A10SE -- Panasonic E95 -- Sky+ -- JS Converter (YUV) -- Canton Speakers 1 x CD360F 4 x CD50 -- Velodyne SPL1200 MK11
    ------------------------------------------------
E95 component out to Denon component in
    E95 scart AV2 to Sky+ VCR scart
E95 optical out to Denon optical in

Sky+ tv scart to JS converter (yuv) scart in
Sky+ optical out to Denon optical in

JS converter (yuv) to Denon component in

Denon component out to Plasma component board
    --------------------------------------------------
I think its all connected right (it would be nice to have this confirmed) as everything seems to be working fine
Also plan to connect computer to plasma via DVI when DVI board is received

Is there any way to improve the connections of the installation?
Or have I got it right
    Cheers for any comments

I would do s-video from sky+ to E95, it'll be noticeably better than the composite on VCR scart. Whilst you can't archive while watching something else, you could do it while sleeping, for the things you want in best quality. Best to have both perhaps, one for convenience, one for better quality.

I thought that was a sky+ option, I don't have sky so forgive me if I'm wrong. You can on a pace twin, the 2 scarts are completely independent. I know the sky+ box is not quite so independent.

if you choose record in sky+ it plays the recorded program...so I guess you can't.

No, you can record one and watch another, so I don't see why that means you can't archive from the VCR scart whilst watching TV. Perhaps someone can call me an idiot, I thought it was one of the features!

you can certainly watch one program and record another to the sky+ HDD at the same time, in fact you can record 2 at the same time, though you have to watch one of them, but I don't see any way of being able to archive from the sky+ HDD to DVDR whilst watching something else.

Little divergence from original topic but - You can record 2 programs and watch a third IF that was previously recorded or (as mep mentioned) watch one of the 2 programs you are currently recording.

Not sure of the independence of the second scart and haven't used the copy facility so I can't comment on that.

MAW, just found it in teh user guide, it specifically states that you cannot watch something else whilst archiving to dvd or vcr. Bizarre, as you would clearly imagine this would be a feature and i'm sure it wouldn't have taken much to add it.

thanks Andy, it seems the copy facility is little more than a list compliler for progs to archive and has 'useful' features like telling you how much 'tape' you need and warning you if you are about to run out
