Does anybody use anything other than Premiere for editing? More to the point, does anybody use anything else AND is happy with it?

    Cheers

I've used Final Cut Pro for a few jobs recently and was very impressed with it.
Got a feeling it might be mac only tho.

Mac only? Even better, as I'm going to be doing some Mac work in the near future.

    Thanks

With a PC, used to use an old Rainbow Runner G-Series and Ulead MediaStudio Pro. Nice and easy to use and I thought I was very happy with it... But MediaStudio Pro was definitely not fast even on a 1.3ghz machine at the time.

Moved to a Matrox RT2500 and Premiere 6.0 (now 6.5) and I'm very happy with it. Quality of output is exceptionally good.

Took a while to get used to Premiere - but I wouldn't go back to MediaStudio Pro...

My favourite is Final Cut Pro - around £700.

And athough I've edited on Avids and Quantel kit for years FCP is a lot better than any other edit system(in terms of price and features)

Premiere has been around for a while, FCP is a newcomer from Apple (designed by the guy that designed Premier), Avid Xpress DV is good, but is a lot more money.

FCP will run any modern Mac, but not on Windoze.
Premiere will run on PC or Mac.
Avid Xpress DV will run on PC or Mac G4.
