Question Alternative to Wireshark

I've been using Wireshark for a while now, but was wondering what the alternative products are in case there is anything that suits my needs better.

I'd be especially interested in anything that can intercept coms from silverlight or flash embedded in a website, or which can intercept common IOT based control protocols. For example if somebody is trying to control a device remotely over my LAN.

Put 'Wireshark alternative' into Google. It will give you plenty of results. Just have to see if there is something to fit your requirements.

Yeah, but that just tells me who has the best search engine optimization. I'm looking for personal recommendations.

Often Google just gives you the big packages that companies use, which aren't always the best.

Your reply shows you haven't tried otherwise you would know that the top ones are made up of alternative recommendations by different sites. e.g. for wireless networks - Kissmet.

Others that spring to mind are Debookee and Omnipeek.

I would suggest that you go back and research Silverlight and Flash Embedded extensively as they are rather specialised. e.g.Silverlight development stopped in 2013 and it is planned to be phased out by 2021.

I'm pretty sure that asking for personal recommendations isn't something that warrants a snarky response. I'm on a forum because I value people's opinions, and I'm asking about Flash and Silverlight because they are heavily used by cheap Chinese IOT devices. The kind that can be brought online and attached to networks and not respond to normal identification requests, or respond using other devices details.
