    Hi,

I was thinking about this last night, whilst I was unable to sleep, and thought it would make an interesting thread.

Okay, so I presume everyone knows what an alter-ego is, yes? For those who don't, an alter-ego is basically where someone creates an imaginary identity, to pass themselves off as something else, for a certain reason. Examples, would normally include Batman being the alter-ego of Bruce Wayne, Superman being the alter-ego of Clark Kent, and Wonder Woman being the alter-ego of Diana Prince.

Right, now let's see how many alter-egos we can come up with. But... this time, I'm looking for real-life alter-ego's not fictional ones. I'll start oiff the list, so people will see what I mean, and then you lot can continue onwards. The main point, though, is that the alter-egos must be real-life ones, and if they are too odd or unusual, then proof will be required. :)

So here goes.... Names are in the order of Real Name, Alter Ego, Brief Description

    1) Stephen King - Richard Bachman - King created the Bachman alter-ego for some of his more fantasy/sci-fi based works. He even created a "biography" for his alter-ego, going so far as to say:

"Born in New York, Richard Bachman’s early years are somewhat of a mystery. As a young man, Bachman served a four-year stint in the Coast Guard, which he then followed with ten years in the merchant marine. Bachman finally settled down in rural central New Hampshire, where he ran a medium-sized dairy farm. He did his writing at night (he suffered from chronic insomnia), after the cows came home. Bachman and his wife, Claudia Inez Bachman, had one child, a boy, who died in an unfortunate, Stephen King-ish type accident at the age of six. He apparently fell through a well and drowned. In 1982, a brain tumor was discovered near the base of Bachman’s brain; tricky surgery removed it. Bachman died suddenly in late 1985, of cancer of the pseudonym, a rare form of schizonomia."

As the final sentence in the above paragraph shows, it was all complete :censored:! Bachman is a fictional creation of Stephen King, famous horror author.

    2) Krzystof Kieslowski - Van Den Budenmayer - Kieslowski is the famous Polish film director of works like "The Three Colours Trilogy", "Decalogue", etc. On the many film soundtracks released for his films, by Polish composer Zbigniew Preisner, you will find many tracks composed or written by an artist called "Van Den Budenmayer". VBM is actually Kieslowski writing the music under an alter-ego.

    3) Michael Mann - Michael Rubini And The Reds - Another film director who composes music for his own works under an assumed name. Rubini (i.e. Mann) did the soundtrack for "Manhunter", all by himself.

    4) Anne Rice - A. N. Roquelaire (sp?) - Famous horror author of "The Vampire Chronicles" series, with Lestat the vampire, originally wrote some highly erotic novels known as the "Sleeping Beauty" series, under her alter-ego of Roquelaire.

    5) David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders (From Mars) - Bowie created many singles and albums using his alter-ego of Ziggy Stardust, in the 1970's and early 80's. Quite why, I don't know, but they sold well, and Stardust (i.e. Bowie) became very popular.

I'm sure there must be loads more, so let's see who else we can come up with. Good Luck! :)

by the way as a psyhcologist I would rather add that there may be more or less than 16 personality types ..... dependant upon whose book you are reading. I have never been a fan of any one particular theory.

    I am an ENFP!

General: ENFPs are both "idea"-people and "people"-people, who see everyone and everything as part of an often bizarre cosmic whole. They want to both help (at least, their own definition of "help") and be liked and admired by other people, on bo th an individual and a humanitarian level. They are interested in new ideas on principle, but ultimately discard most of them for one reason or another. This type is found in only about 3 percent of the general population, but they have great influence because of their extraordinary impact on others.

    Famous ENFPs:
    Buster Keaton

    Fictional:
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

What up gansta? I think i'd rather be like EG and have some people that matter as ENFPs
