I am considering buying an Alphason stand like the one described below.
I would welcome member feedback on this equipment and possible alternatives.

I have an B&W LCR60 Centre which I want to house, a Sony AV Amp and Pioneer DVD player which would sit on the lower shelf.

A Panasonic 32 inch widescreen on the top shelf.

    Hi Clivejones

I bought one of these stands 2 weeks ago from here:

    http://www.robinsonselectric.co.uk/a_&_ad_range.htm

I paid £217 (plus £12 delivery) but I see they've now gone up to £226. Still an excellent price and I reckon the cheapest in the UK. Service was also 1st class - delivered in just 3 working days.

The build quality and finish is excellent. Even with no kit on it, it's solid and very heavy. There's plenty of space, especially on the bottom shelf, for all your AV kit and since the 10mm top shelf can support up to 119kg, it will easily hold your Panny 32" CRT TV (which probably only weighs around 60kg).
Your centre speaker is 175mm high so even with the small rubber feet it should fit nicely on the top shelf.
Tha cable-tidy feature works well for any cables going up to the rear of the TV but unfortunately it does little to hide the spaghetti-junction of other power, speaker and AV cables we have.
It does look fantastic though and even my wife agrees on that.

One thing I wasn't expecting is that once assembled, the unit is designed to tilt backwards by about 3 degrees. This is to conform with British Standards and is obviously to avoid front-heavy screens from tipping forwards. I hadn't noticed this on the stands at my local comet and I thought I'd made an assembly error at first !!

I would whole-heartedly recommend this stand.

Now that I am convinced on this stand.... all i need do is persuade my wife of it's merits and we're in business...... A trip down the jewellers or louis vuitton handbag shop i think should sort it out!

Clive, don't rush: we just bought one a week ago and already my other half hates it, so it may be up for sale soon...

I will probably be selling at some point once we've agreed on what replaces it.

This is unlikely to happen in the very immediate future so, if you're in a hurry, forget mine. If you can afford to wait a few weeks -- two, maybe three or four -- then I'll drop a note in here pointing to my ad in the classifieds.

Sorry I can't be more definite than that right now.
