Eurogamer have an interview up with the game's producer Nour Polloni.

I like the idea of using fear rather than surprise to create panic - how well it is executed though is another matter.

There's also a brand new trailer on the their site here. No monsters in it, but it gives you an idea of the atmosphere. The graphics don't look like anything special - but then it's difficult to tell given how dark the game is.

Any idea when Alone In The Dark is due? I've seen a few adverts for it now which normally suggests it is imminent - but I thought it had slipped? Whatever looking forward to this!

Afaik it is due in May 2008, so only a few more months to wait. It was delayed and I think it was originally due for March.

I have great memories of playing AITD3 (never got to play the first 2). The atmosphere was spot on it that one and the plot flowed along really nicely.

Don't imagine this will be anything like it, but I'm looking forward to it none the less. This looks very Silent-Hill from the trailer I saw (no bad thing).

In a why it will be nice if the game is less action orientated and more adventure based - there's far too few of them imo. I'm hoping I can revel in the games atmosphere and be scared in the process.

I agree, a slow-ish pace with a constant threatening atmosphere is what will make this game for me. Having to solve puzzles in the dark with the constant fear of something creeping up on you while your back is turned will be nice and terrifying!

This tech demo is well worth checking out. It gives some flavour as to how the inventory system will work and how you can combine items - seems to have some great ideas, I just hope that being able to do this stuff in game is just as intuitive.

I'm not sure whether this applies to the PC game, but it seems like a novel way to get through difficulty spikes in games you're having trouble with i.e. just skip it!

Certainly seems a novel to me. Far too many games get put away once you get to a certain bit and the frustration is too much to get past it. At least this way most people will see it to the end!

There is quite a fancy limited edition of the game coming out. It seems an extravagance but I've pre-ordered anyway from Amazon for £30.

For anyone interested in the game it is well worth checking out this fire physics tech demo. It shows how fire can spread dynamically with its own real time light. Whilst watching it though I couldn't help thinking that this is going to need a beefy CPU to keep things running smooth - I'm not sure my stock E4300 will cut it...

Gamespot have an in-depth hands on and it looks like this is shaping up really well.

Also check out a very good new trailer over at VE3D.

Here's a first screenshot of the DVD style menu system the game will support. I think it's a novel idea, the devs want everyone to complete the game so even if you find one part tough you can skip forward to the next chapter. Ingenious!

Eurogamer have their review up of this, they scored it 7/10. Not a bad score given some of the scores from early reviews that have been posted.

Hideous controls on the 360, I'll wait and see if they're improved on the PC before I buy

Indeed, I'm waiting for the demo. Didn't they say it would be out before release?

I have been playing this a awhile now and personally I really like it. The car sequence in the 2nd chapter is a little annoying but it doesnt take very long to master it - the rest of it that I have played is good fun - esp stabing the fuel tank of a car, driving it around a bit and leaving a huge fuel trail and lighting it up and watch it work its way back to the car.

Controls are a bit crap but the pace of the game is more like a res evil puzzler so mad fighting reactions are needed.

Fe_man2000 - I take it you are referring to the PC version? I'm still intrigued by the game but really am waiting for a demo before pulling the trigger. I did have this pre-ordered at Amazon but cancelled it at the beginning of the week as I was anxious about reviews.
