    Hey!

Can anyone tell me if Almost Famous Bootleg Edition is still £11.99 in HMV?

Also, if it is still £11.99 would someone be willing to get me a copy?

    PM if you don't mind?

It's probably worth trying as many branches as you can. I got one last week where they had 15-20 copies on the shelves. A store half a mile away only had it at full price - they told me it was probably stock left over from a sale last Oct/Nov.

    Nibbler!

The bootleg edition is a 2 disc edition exclusive to HMV it contains the Theatrical cut and also the directors cut with an extra 30 mins or so extra footage.

I don't have a HMV near me at work to check it out, and HMV is closed by the time I get home!

CD-WOW are selling the R3 2-disk for about £7 or £8. It's the same as the R2 bootleg edition.

Incidentally, the director's cut (bootleg edition) is the must own version of Almost Famous. So many worthwhile scenes were cut from the theatrical release it's untrue!

I have the R1 bootleg which comes with the Stillwater CD as well  :D

    Annatar,

I don't know but I would email CD-WOW and ask them if it's anamorphic.

If it is then it will more than likely be the same disks as the R1.

After emailing them to enquire about Scent of a Woman R3, I purchased it. When it arrived it was IDENTICAL to the R1 (the disk, the menus, the cover, everything!). The only difference was that it had the R3 symbol, rather than the R1 symbol on the back cover.

So I basically got the R1 for about £6 or £7 - about half the price!

I tried the Aberdeen branch who said they only had the full price ones left!!! I said how can you have offer price DVD's and full price DVD's which are identical. He could not answer.

if you get the info from CDWOW then post it on here and if it is the same as the R1 then I will order one from them as well.

    cheers

Rigman - HMV have a certain number of sale stock items, after which the price reverts to normal. Obiwan had a thread about this in Special Offers.

Ok, I still have not heard from CDWOW and I have sent 2 emails.

I've taken a chance and ordered the R3. I got it for £6.99, the 50p link is still working and I used a 50p voucher I received with my last order.

I don't think I can complain too much, both versions for £6.99.

I am unsure as to DTS, It definately has DD 5.1. Im not too fussed about DTS that much, especially after reading articles saying that DTS isn't really any better, just 3dB louder.

The DVD does have 2 discs, it contacins the Theatrical cut on one and the other disc contains the 35 mins extended Directors cut!

    Its also Anamorphic!

For £7.99 or if you have got some vouchers, even cheaper, I don't think you can complain?

The hmv edition may beat the r1 by having dts on the untitled version, but its almost unwatchable due to some terrible lip synching.

I've received another email from Mark at CDWOW today saying that this title is definately NOT ANAMORPHIC.

I've already ordered this on the previous email that stated it WAS.

Ive had to ask now about getting a refund as I do not want it, if its not Anamorphic!

    What a pain!

I watched it last night. The lip sync is a long way out in places, but the strange thing was, it is only certain words and phrases, then it is okay. Its as if it has been badly re-dubbed by the actors:confused:

I am no expert, and it could just be the way my system is set up, but Amistad in DD sounds far better than it does in DTS.
