Allders gone into Administration

Anyone tried their hand at getting a good deal at Allders lately? I'm sure they'd be open to a bit of haggling now they've gone into administration.

I've visited my local branch a couple of times since the trouble started with the same thought in mind. Lots of POS material trumpeting wonderful deals but the reality is, they are still (considerably) more expensive than any of the suppliers we talk about on this forum. Perhaps this explains their predicament?

Anyway, I shall keep half an eye on the local store and report any interesting developments.

though what high street department store does compete price wise vs the specialists talked about on this forum and on-line retailers? Apart from JLP giving a 5 year guarantee, Army & Navy, Debenhams, etc, are no different to Allders in this respect.

True enough. If enough people wake up to this, these stores will all go the way of the dinosaurs. Retail models change very fast and I suspect that the high profile, high rent, overstaffed (usually, but not always) by incompetents, has had its day.

Niche specialists with low rents and good expertise can survive ahead of the box shifters so long as they don't get too greedy.
