Question All4-012 Error on Roku Streaming Stick +

All4 used to work brilliantly on my Roku Streaming Stick + but recently I started to get an error "All4-012: Error" on the Home and several other functions. I tried deleting the All4 app, updating the streaming stick to the latest firmware, restarting the streaming stick and reinstalling the latest All4 app but it made no difference. As All4 was one of the main reasons I bought the streaming stick I'm desperate for a solution ! I've asked on the Roku forum and was just referred back to All4 who have not responded so far.

If you have a Roku, I'd be interested to know if you've also started to get this error recently.

Please help!
Thanks

I’m using the 4K Roku streaming stick + & watch All4 no problem (cue the next time I use it it’ll fail!).

I've just tried a few minutes ago and also got the same error

All4 app is working fine for me on Xbox One and Apple TV devices

and I get the same issue with my Roku Premiere

Delh68 - hmm, mine says HD/4k/HDR on the box. Odd that I get the problem and yours works ok. Perhaps you are on an older version of the All4 app or Roku firmware, in which case I suggest you don't update until a solution is known!!!!!

Smurf100 - not just me then! What stick are you using?

Can any Avforum experts suggest how to overcome this?

That was using a Streaming Stick +, however I've just tried again and it's now working:

App is also currently working on an older Roku HD device that I've just tried

Smurf100 - thanks for checking. I got quite excited at the thought that it might be working now, but unfortunately I still get the error on Home and Boxed Sets. I'm hopeful that Channel4 may reply but it's been a few days now. If I hear any more I'll post here as it may benefit anyone else who has this problem.
thanks again!

That's really weird, my All4 is the same, Version 4.1 Build21 on both my Rokus and both have the same problem. Both are on the latest Roku firmware build - My streaming stick is Software version 9.30.0 Build 4172 and my Premiere is Software version 9.30.0 Build 4170. I'll try calling Channel 4 tomorrow and will post any updates here.

Did you have any luck?
I was thinking & wondering if your internet has changed recently, or have you added a vpn / dns ? - All4 might not like it ???, just a thought as you said it was affecting both your devices.
Have you tried watching via the stick via mobile data to see if it works that way?

The good news is that before answering I rechecked both the Rokus and Home now works without error. The Box Sets option gives "All4-012: Error: Boxed Sets" about 50% of the time on the streaming stick+ and is error free on the Premiere. It's really odd. I rang Channel4 support on Monday and they said they'd sent a reply to my email query but it didn't arrive. They said they'd resend it but it still hasn't arrived. I sent another email query but this time from a different email system, and again have not had a reply.

I've been having this problem for several weeks and your message reminded me that I changed my router several weeks ago from a Plusnet Sagemcom supplied by my ISP to a BT Business Smarthub Type A. Could there be anything in that? I'm not using a vpn. I don't know how to watch via the stick via mobile data so I can't check that.

I'll try a few things: a) swapping back to my Sagemcom router b) ringing All4 again (!) and c) try the stick at a different house and will report back if I find anything.

thanks

For this bit, use a mobile phone to set up a mobile hotspot, and tether the Roku device to it via the wifi connection, in the same way as you connect it to your home wifi signal - as an alternative method of accessing the internet (lots of guides on google, depending on what phone you have).

Turn it off afterwards, as it can quickly eat its way through any mobile data allowance

I had this reply from Channel 4 - it takes about a week for them to respond:

We are sorry to read you are experiencing issues with All 4 on Now TV. However, we have provided you with a few troubleshooting steps below that you can try at home, which may get the service up and running again.

- Power down your device, TV and Internet modem for 60 seconds.
*Please use the remote that comes with your Now TV box as we aware of compatibility issues if using the remote app.

If this does not resolve your issue, please can you provide the answers to the questions we have provided below. This will try and help us find a resolution to the issue as quickly as possible.

What is the model number of your box?
Are you using the latest version of the All 4 app (Deleting and reinstalling this should ensure this)?
Who is your Internet Service Provider?
Have you followed all troubleshooting steps provided?
What exactly is your error message saying?

We apologise once again for the disruption to your service, and await your reply.

If you require further information, feel free to email me back or visit www.channel4.com/4viewers/faqs

All4 on the Streaming Stick + still gives the "All4-012: Error" on Boxed Sets though it works intermittently and if I scroll up and down the options I can sometimes get Boxed Sets to work.

Using a personal hotspot or swapping out the router made no difference, however the Streaming Stick + worked 100% of the time at a relative's house 150 miles away. All very odd. Any other thoughts? Otherwise I'll see what All4 support come back with after I answered there questions.

By the way, someone else contacted me via the Roku website to say he has the same issues, so at least it's not just me.

Interesting.
Does all4 work okay on your phone/laptop/desktop/tablet??
All very odd.
It would be nice for channel 4 to tell you what the error code means to them, or if it’s just generic.

Not sure this will work but got Roku settings and delete your WiFi. Move your router\hub about. Go back to Roku and reinstall your WiFi. Its just a stab in the dark.

This quoted reply from Channel 4 is referring to a Now TV box, whereas I understand the problem is with a Roku device, which suggests they didn't read/understand your message, or are just copying/pasting something generic?

Now TV devices are based on Roku tech.

Yes, it works fine on my Windows PC. As far as i can see the issue is specific to the All4 app running on Roku Streaming Stick + from my home location. I'll report back if any progress.
